Anyone have a Shellback Tactical Banshee Plate Carrier?  If so, thoughts?  I'm thinking about picking one up when they get some tan ones in.

I looked at it, and although some people like it, it's a stripped down basic entry level gig.  I'd save the cash and get a real nice one like the apc or the pig.  That's actually what I am planning on doing myself.

Mr. JimboJones,

C'mon bro....I am not a mod (let's get that out the way) but instead contributing to the continuance of this inappropriately placed thread take the time to redirect him.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. I just received my Banshee last week and its a quality piece of gear.

ETA: that being said I really like mine, I'll try to post a pic.

Haven't had it long but it seems like a decent piece of kit compared to other stuff I've looked at and/or tried.  It's nice and simple, which for my purposes is a huge plus.

Received mine last week. I think its a quality piece of gear. However, very small in size. Im 6'1" 200lbs and the vest leaves some liver and lungs exposed just not enough coverage.  For the quality and price still happy but I'll probably end up selling for a PIG or larger vest.

Here is a video review I did of it.

Overall it is a really nice carrier for the price point, a steal at $130.

"Entry level"?

Well I've been wearing body armor for 13 years and I like it. Wore it all during my last tour to Afghanistan. Carried all the stuff I needed it too. Easy on/off and with the silencer clips from Ares Armor it made it even better. It's lightweight and adjustable which is the selling point. If you want a full body kit then go for a PIG or RCAS or some other set up.

If you want to save money and have some more cash in pocket for other gear, armor, or another gun in some cases then you should consider the Banshee when compared to other PCs or vests

Love mine. Great quality and lifetime warranty. As for size, its designed as a basic plate carrier. It does what it was built for, if your crazy tall you wont be covered as much as a little guy of course. I'm 6ft 3in and 200lbs.

I like mine just fine. Like others have said, it is a basic (read: the size of 8x10" plates) with no frills or anything. Personally, that is what drew me to it. I am 6' and it covers from the sternal notch to the bottom of my diaphragm. I use mine without the cummerbund since I am not carrying a load out at this time. Only pic I have of it right at the moment:

I had a PIG and switched to the Banshee. I think the Banshee is just as good as any other carrier I've handled. I also wear mine for work, and do so regularly and so far it's held up fine.  I've had it about 6 months now.

The plate provides the protection, not the carrier.  A larger carrier just gives you more molle webbing to attach stuff too but will not provide more protection.

While it does look a little goofy if you are taller (I am 6'4", 195 lbs.), it does everything I need it to which is entry work.  I have mine set up to go over concealed soft armor or go on with nothing under it. Holds my extra mags, trauma kit, and surefire light.  I do get comments about it looking small though as in "did you bring your wife's armor today?"

I think the size is my main gripe. I have large plates and they cover me well, but the plate carrier looks really small on me.

I also feel that the plate pocket is less secure than other plate carriers.

I did 3-5 miles runs all summer in mine and the plates never shifted. The pocket is 100% secure.

If I was to buy a Banshee in ATACS, would I pretty much be SOL on matching pouches?

I just ordered Banshee in the a-tacs from Shellback. I also got a 3 mag kangaroo pouch made by condor from CombatSportSupply.com in a-tacs, they also had pouches, but not many.  I'm sure if you did a little digging you might find some more.

I got a couple of comments similar to that this week, from people wearing vests that are three times to large for them, with plates that don't cover even half of their vital organs. It just shows peoples' ignorance.
