I will be purchasing a Redfield scope next month, and I need to find a molle capable puch to carry it on my b.o.b. and/or range bag. I have an aimpoint that I will use most of the time, just need something to keep the Redfield handy since I will have QD mounts on both and might need to access either one quickly.
I have found the blackhawk! sportster scope puch on their site for around $13.00 I believe, but wondering if there are other options out there for under $30.00?....I like to have options

Look at laruetactical.com. I just looked at their scope bags, and I would have to get one that is at least 12.5" long. This means that I would have to get their large scope bag (18"), unless I am missing something, at a cost of $55.00 Call me cheap, but Im not gonna pay that for a scope pouch (budgeted around $30.00 ish), not to mention the extra 5.5" I would have left over in the pouch that I dont need. Thank You for the input though, I do appreciate it! |

Thank You for the input though, I do appreciate it! Get some closed-cell foam, such as used in the old GI sleeping pad. Make a tube-shaped-scope carrier using duct tape inside and out. Cap one end permanently, and cap the other end using duct tape as a "hinge". Now you can buy most any un-padded pouch that will accept the tube/scope assy. |

or you could use some socks and rubber bands if you're tight for space. i know it doesn't sound super-tactical, but that's what we use for optics in the field. you're gonna run out of space if you pack the foam case for every piece of sensitive glass or electronic shit that you need to carry. just remember where you put it. |

Not a bad idea, do you think I will still be able to get to it fairly quickly and get all the socks and rubber bands pulled off witthout losing them? Im just think of a hypethetic scenario where I might want to switch to a scope for a longer engagement...
