Im thinking about upgrading my plate carrier from the Banshee to THIS Eagle plate carrier.

My only complaint about the Banshee is it's size, I feel like it's to small. I'm 6' tall and about 240lbs. It feels like I'm wearing a kids PC.

Should I upgrade? What do y'all think?

Also, I have a set of 10x12 esapi plates. How will they fit in a L/XL Eagle? Will they move around inside the carrier?

If you happen to own the Eagle carrier, pics are encouraged.

Thanks guys!

For a few more dollars get the  PIG instead you'll like how adjustable it is.

Increasing the size of the carrier does not increase your protection... if your plates are 10x12, then why would you want a carrier that is significantly larger? If your concern is wanting more MOLLE, then get the PIG or something, which fits all plate sizes. The L/XL EPC is designed for larger plates.

MOLLE webbing does not equal protection stop kidding yourself. A slicker PC means lighter and cooler. The plates protect you not the nylon

No shit genius. So far two of you have missed the point of this thread and assumed that I'm an idiot. Thanks for that.

Is there anyone else that has an opinion on the Eagle carrier being more comfortable because it's larger than the Banshee?

Please note: I UNDERSTAND THAT THE CARRIER ITSELF PROVIDES NO PROTECTION. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ASININE COMMENTS LIKE THE POSTER ABOVE. THANK YOU.

i've got a banshee, i'm 5'10", 326lbs as of this morning (working on that part). I've got a banshee. Does it look stupid? YUP. does it work? YUP. plates sit where they belong because of the size of the pockets, and i run a 1st line along with the 2nd line, so i reload from the belt, then feed the belt from the chest. You'll be fine with the Banshee. its a really well made piece of kit.

I didn't assume you were an idiot; I asked what your purpose for wanting a larger carrier was. A suggestion I provided was the PIG, because it will fit (most) all sizes of plates.

if you get plates that dont need a backer, ive found the eagle RRV + rear plate carrier to be the most comfortable plate carrier ever.

I know the feeling. I ordered a banshee, it showed up yesterday . I pulled it out of the box and my 11 yr old started jumping for joy. He thought I had bought him a airsoft vest. I'm 6'2" and weigh 245. This thing is way too small I'm guessing that it may cover half of my chest width and stops right at the bottom of my ribcage in length . I know the plates provide protection. I adjusted the shoulder straps completely out and its still too short.
I would love to know what carrier you end up getting since were close to the same size. I called shellback tactical and they recommended the rampage  because it comes in lg/xl .  Maybe look at the rampage ? Up to you.

So, off to the post office to send the banshee back.

Fyi... I called shellback before I bought the carrier. I asked about sizing and they said its one size fits all. I specifically told her my size and she said I would be fine....when I called back today to tell her it was too small it was like she did not believe me when I told her my size. Then she said oh well you just need to adjust the shoulder straps, I said I did then she said well will it fit around you ? Guess she thinks 6'2" and 245 equals tub o crap fat guy with a huge gut. I told her yes it fits around me great its the length and width ....there was a long silence.

I'm confused too.  It fits around you and it's long enough for the plate.  There are long enough shoulder straps that you could be 4ft in diameter and still have it go over.  You want the top of the plate to be at your collar bones, not the nipples and stop at about the bottom of the rib cage so you have plenty of freedom of movement.

I specifically got the Banshee because of it's length, I also have a belt and carry a pistol there, I don't want a PC hanging so low that it creates more difficulty than it needs to.

Good luck-

This is my first plate carrier.....So I don't know how it's "supposed to fit" .I did not know that the plates should be up by your collar bone, to me  It just feels like it rides too high.  If it's supposed to be that high then I guess it technically fits  If I could get it to drop down just a few more inches I think I would like it more, maybe I'll get used to it.  I am buying this stuff so I can look tacticool   lol    when I go to tactical response for some training.

After making the post earlier I did some more research and found out that all of them are pretty much the same size because the plates are all the same size"duh". So guess I just have to get use to it.

Thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated.

If a 10x12 plate is too small for you, then any plate carrier designed for 10x12 (medium) plates is going to be too small for you. It doesn't matter if it has more adjustment, the plate isn't going to grow. If it could adjust to be big enough for you, you'd just have a big vest with the same amount of protection as before.

You may want large, or even extra large plates, and a plate carrier to match. I believe eagle, bfg, and mayflower all make large PC's.

ETA: My bad, I see this has already been touched on.

That's all good news, because I think you'll find that with another plate carrier you'd adjust it too low and it would be at or below your beltline and drive you nuts.  Again, I like the shorter Banshee because it leaves my entire gut section open for better movement and more comfort.  Try to get used to it up high and you'll find that although it feels 'in your face' at first, you won't even notice it being in the way of movement around the middle.  It's a great trade-off (besides actually having a plate that fits in the right spot).

Proper Wear of Hard Armor with Anatomical Diagrams

If the plate doesn't cover this portion of your body, you might want to get bigger plates.
