This is my chest rig dyed with Rit Tan. Looks pretty good by itself but upon further inspection it too has the redish tint that seems fairly common with the brown family of rit dyes but here in Alabama that woks pretty well with our red clay.

I wonder if I mix the tan and taupe if it would make it lighter in color? I may have to chop up a UCP pouch or hat and try it. |

If someone comes out with a easy-to-do, easy-to-get/find way of dyeing ACU to tannish/brownish tints while retaining the camo pixel pattern, they will make a lot of folks happy.
So far, the brown Rit dye winds up being way too red. |

I tried to dye ACU with tan and I got a reddish tint. I then tried dark green and I got better results. I'll get some pics if you want to see..

Thanks. Through trial and error, I found that the longer it is in the dye, the redder it gets. On this rig, I dipped it in and out of the bucket until I was close to the color I wanted without getting too red. |

I agree, that looks way better than most dyed ACU that I've seen. Good work!
