Gday guys,

Basically after your opinions on a small set of binos one could carry on their rack somewhere. Been using the issued ginormous ones, but after a set I can carry on my gear and still get decent observation. Any recommendations on magnification or particular products you have used?

Look at monoculars they take up less space and you can get some with a ranging feature. Brunton and Vortex seem to be popular choices.

I got a pair of Weems and Path Apaches, basically a non-laser safe version of the M24 mini binos.

I've got some Steiner Military/Marine binos that are smaller than the MIL version.  I like them.

I recently picked these up:  http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-vanquish-10x26-binocular
I probably spent an hour looking through different binos in this size and these were the best that didn't cost an arm and a leg.  Plus they are a site sponsor.

I ended up getting Vortex 8x36 monocular

That monocular is awesome. I cannot believe the clarity in something that is that inexpensive. Plus, it has a ranging reticle too.

Thanks a lot for the different options guys. Haplo, definitely having a look at that mono at the moment, being able to figure an accurate distance with subtension is a major plus. Cheers all.
