The weather is starting to get cooler here in the northeast and it is time to start thinking about a jacket for the cooler seasons. Right now I'd just like to find a jacket for Fall, ideally something not too thick or heavy. I'd also prefer something that doesn't scream "tactical." Something like The Northface fleece jackets but without the fleece exterior layer. Any recommendations?

How about a softshell?  The North Face makes then with a water resistant exterior and a fleece lining.  Many other companys also make them.  Go here and take your pick and you will probably be good to go with just about any of them.  I have one of the TNF apex bionic jackets that i wear when i don't want to look "tactical" in my TAD ranger hoodie.

+1 for the TNF Apex Bionic line.
I do the exact same thing depending on what the desired style is - be it LATIGRA or MAGNUM - switching between my TAD gear and my North Face gear.

Get a Woolrich Tactical in Coyote Brown. Natchezss.com and DSG.com both have them at good prices. It's tactical, but somewhat casual. Loaded with features.
