Howdy everyone,
I know this has to have been covered before but I cannot find an answer. What is the best way to attach pieces of gear together that have the PALS webbing? I have a new nalgene pouch that I would like to attach to my backpack but have no built in method to do so. I did a google search and the black hawk strike speed clips popped up but I know nothing about them and figured I would ask before I bought them Thanks for your time |

Malice clips. Tac ties are a good alt to malice clips, theyre made by maxpedtition Copy that thanks for the link. The only thing I dont see is total length. I am guessing long as I need to cover a total of 6" from top of the webbing to the bottom of the webbing. |

Copy that. Is Tactical Tailor the cheapest place to get them or is there a better vendor? SKDTAC has them for $1.25 each, plus free S/H with their "SUCKIT" code... Well shit. I wish I would have seen this as I placed an order with USCAV. 22$ total for a set of the long and short versions. Shipping was damn near 10$ alone! |

Well I lucked out and canceled the order with USCAV and ordered it through SKD. Hopefully it gets here next week! Thanks for the help everyone |

Here is a video by HSGI guy Topher that illustrates how to attach a pouch using MALICE clips. It pertains to any pouch PALS compatible and any PALS rig. This stuff is not fragile, so use tools and muscle.

Malice clips. Tac ties are a good alt to malice clips, theyre made by maxpedtition I think the TacTies >>might<< be a little bit more bulletproof very long term, but that is a guess. Perhaps it is an ingrained suspicion of plastic (Malice clips) vs. nylon webbing (TacTies). They are also a bit more difficult to install, so are better suited to stuff that is more-or-less in a permanently dedicated spot. Probably not the best item for experimentation. Nothing against Malice clips at all; I use 'em a lot. The Blackhawk units I have not used, but I have never heard anyone touting them, and they show up an awful lot on sale, so that makes me wonder how good they are. Might be GTG, I dunno. FWIW, and in a pinch, the old ALICE clips WILL mate with MOLLE/PALS webbing, and wire-ties are likewise an option. Be advised that wire ties come in indoor versions, and outdoor/UV-resistant versions, the latter most often having metal ratchets/locks instead of plastic. So, you can use ALICE clips or cheap indoor wire ties to temporarily attach ALICE pouches to PALS webbing until you are finished experimenting, and then replace them with more expensive outdoor/UV certified wire ties. Just MAKE SURE to cut the end of the wire tie that exits the locking block FLUSH with a razor, NOT a pair of wire-cutters. Reason for this is the wire cutters leave a short bit of plastic with sharp ends that will either cut you, or your gear. |
