I'd like to mount a holster on the far left side of my plate carrier. the only options I've seen are nylon holsters, and blackhawk. Are there any other molded kydex or the like out there built for molle?

Safariland 6377 with a Blackhawk Molle adapter (I am not sure if the adapters are still available).

side note, as the pic reminded me..

i asked a friend of mine who served 2 tours, Iraq and Afghanistan about belt mounted holsters (war belt )....then about mounting a pistol on a chest rig or body armor.....he recommended against it for a few reasons

1) why put your secondary weapon at the center mass of your body, where people will be aiming

2) if you need to dump your vest for any reason, you would then lose your secondary weapon

#1 point above makes the most sense to me.  Bad guy shooting center mass, good chance he may end up shooting your pistol.

sorry for any derail of the topic, back to your normal programming

ETA: Blackhawk MOLLE adapters are still avail from a few places...   SKD tactical is where I got mine about a month ago.

Well, I also have 2 tours in Iraq, and when flying and working from vehicles, the center of the chest is a good spot.  If I were walking around on foot patrol, that would be a different story.  So for now with the limited space on the rig, I am running it there.  Also, the bad guy knows you have a rifle plate right there so they are not aiming there.

I can see it both ways (on chest or not).

This is a general purpose vest for me, but what I've noticed is that I can't re-holster my sidearm very well when my holster is on my belt, strong side.

I'm hoping to set up a cross draw type configuration, it can't be as high up as the above picture because I'm running a 3-point sling on my AR.

The point was to show other holsters can be MOLLE mounted.

You could easily set it up cross draw depending on your set-up.

So I've found this:

and this:

I ordered the second one.

What mag pouches are those?

I believe those are TAG Shingles w/ pistol pouch.

Yea, I looked them up. I think you are right. I'm going to get me some of those.

They are TAG ammo pouches. Two of them. The pistol mags are held in place by elastic and a magnet.  Quite secure.

If you are taking about the Molle mounts, no.  I am using the older version of the blackhawk one on the bottom.  I have one of those (the bottom one) on a different holster, but I have not looked to see if it will work with the Safariland.  I imagine it would.
