Hey guys, I have been using a Maxpedition Jumbo for the last year or so ot carry around a netbook and some other gear.  Now I have to carry a 14" laptop, sometimes TWO laptops, and I would like something similar to the Jumbo I have been using...

Specifically, I love the strap on the Maxpedition.  It is wide and actually "part" of the bag, rather that attached through loops.  I just hate standard laptop bags.

Post what you have, and pics if you've got those too!

I've been using the TT Multicam version as a "fag bag" for the last 2 years.  Added a velcro panel for nametape, flag, morale patches, etc.  Paid $30 for it on the EE

FYI: "Fag Bag" is GI slang for the old OD canvas M1945 Map Case, most often scrounged by Joes to use as a Jack Bauer Bag, carry your Green Book, -10s, SMCT, SQT, manuals, etc.

I got lucky and found a DELL laptop shoulder bag for my DELL laptop at my local thrift store; $$3.99 IIRC.  Fits perfectly, of course, and a very nice bag overall.

Main thing with lap-top bags is plenty of padding around at least the bottom and sides of the bag to prevent shock to the unit if dropped, and also some degree of water/precip protection.

For this last, small toothed zippers are preferred over large-toothed ones, and at least some sort of flap over the zipper (almost always on the top of the case) is a good thing.  A full flap is best of all.  If you would not be comfortable with your lap-top bag still being bone-dry inside after being left out all night in the rain, then mebbe it is not good enough.  YMMV.

Most any case will have room for charger/extension cords, and a spare battery.  If the shoulder strap does not already have good, grippy padding, them add some.

This has got a full flap, at least.  I'd want to see pix of the inside, but it looks like some small pouches will have to be added to carry spare batt, charger, and extension cord.  Probably get 'em from the same vendor.

Shoulder strap is way too narrow, even with an add-on pad, so plan on replacing it.

Unless you're in the mil, probably a good idea to dye the thing black.

Still, all the elements of a good, solid bag, and the upgrades required will not be either expensive or difficult.  If I did not have my current bag, I'd probably go for it.

Hey kudzu630-

Think that HSGI bag would hold a MBP15? If so, I may have found my bag, at long last...

Thanks!

I bought a HSGI Armadillo (V1) when they 1st became available, and it is the 1st case I have not destroyed (in fact it still looks great), having put multiple holes in a Tumi case.
