I've been looking into the Condor 603 and some of the Blackhawk warrior wear. What are some of you guys ruining with? Pics are welcome as always. Also does anyone make a base with Velcro patch panels already on the sleeves?

base layer is icebreaker pants and shirt. usually just wool socks without a base there.
I also have an icebreaker wool cap that does wonders.

PCU levels 1-3.  I also have some FR stuff I picked up for cheap.

For hiking I also have some Patagonia base layers that are really comfortable.

On a side note, we are talking cold weather base layer right?
I have a pair of pants and shirt from UnderArmor heat gear that I wear in SE Asia under my coveralls because it wicks sweat away and actually cools with a bit of breeze.

I like merino wool long johns.  I think mine are smart wool.

A base layer top with velcro on the sleeves seems like it would be a hassle.

lol my green fleece is one of my favorite pieces of gear...not because it's warm, which it's really not since the wind blows through it, but because it is fuzzy.

Haha same here, I find myself rubbing my face with the sleeve often! On a typical cold morning on gordon, I wear the waffle bottoms, ltwt top, waffle top, acus obviously, green fleece and inserts/shells.

The best is 100% merino wool; Icebreaker or Smartwool.

Under Armor Cold Gear Metal is what I wear when it is cold out.

I bought wollrich elite merino wool tops and bottoms $20 ea from botach a couple weeks ago, very nice stuff but oversized.  Dryer fixed that a little though.

How much cold are we talking? FT Drum Cold?...... I'll just run with that because that's where I got frostbite on my hands and feet.

Silk underweight (T/B), Waffles (T/B), ACU bottoms, TAD gear Ranger hoodie, The new super thin Gore-tex issue top, Nomex Balaclava, Oakley or Lowa Non insulated boots (I got frostbite so bad that my feet just sweat all the time now - can't wear insulated boots or I get trench foot), Kevlar Hellstorm Gloves for when it's too cold for my mechanix, Green Watch cap. This has gotten me through some really long and freezing field exercises. Did I mention tons of snow? If not there was always an abundance of snow. I hate FT Drum, Pewter Mug ain't so bad though.

SOS

Edit - I hate the issue green fleece unless I'm in Garrison. I got the Ranger hoodie in green, it's worth it's weight in gold. The difference is equivalent to the Issue Woobie versus the Kifaru Woobie.
