I am certain that this topic has been covered before on here, but I can't find any specific threads. That or they have all been archived...

I was thinking that I really could use a Go Bag to put my spare G19 in, along with some mags, water, medical stuff, and a small assortment of "survival' gear. Something that I could stow behind the seat of my truck, or put it in a handy location in my house so I could grab it quickly if needed..

So I got to looking around at various bags, and a couple of bags caught my eye..

One was the Extreme Gear Labs Takeout Bag.

Another was the S.O.Tech Mission Go Bag.

Both are right around $100, which is right in my price range for one of these bags.

I was just wondering if any of you own either bag, and wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts on either bag. How's the build quality? Have they held up to use/abuse? If you are using a completely different brand/model of bag, feel free to chime in about that too. Pics are always welcome.

Any help will be appreciated!

I have been building EACH and every one of the TABs since 2007 (when profiled in SWAT)  I still get queries from folks from that issue

.... I licensed two variations of the bag to Maxpedition in 2008, available since 2009

the TAB was purpose developed to provide ammo and supply carriage to patrol rifle equipped LEOs who may not have had the requisite personal equipment to support said weapon.

fill it up and stow alongside long rifle

All told I have built about 150 or so and have had only 6 repairs due to user attempted modifications.

While it was purpose designed for LE use, the usability is up to the end user and some usages may not be up to what the user had in mind, that said, for anything if you use something outside of its intended goal, and it comes up short... well that goes for about anything gear-wise out there.

In short, its a lunchbox with 3 x M4 magazine pouches on the front exterior with some velcro loop on the interior to mount some accessory pockets and some oversized PALS webbing on the sides.  9 x 9 x 4 inches sized

I use a small luggage bag the kind refered to as carry on. I like to be discreet. I can check into a nice Hotel with it slung over my shoulder. And no one has a clue that it's loaded with AR mags first aid gear and a pistol and mags. Plus a war belt. Cleaning supplies etc. May not hold up to the rigors of the Sand Box. But until these guy's start making their stuff in blue I'll make do.

eggrolly, even though it may be a little small for my intended purpose, they still appear to be a well-crafted bag...

Now, if only I could get some other Extreme Gear Labs [TAB] owners to chime in on how they like this bag.....

Anyone??

.

How about these bags by Hawkepak? I really like how discrete they are. I like the idea of not having sewn-on pouches on the outside (of the larger Go Bag), but still having the option of adding them later if one chooses to do so..

Do any of you own either of these bags?

Hawkepak Go Bag

Or, this smaller Hawkepak QND bag?

I have 3 SOTech MGBs (I used to sell them).  If it's SOTech, there will be no question on the build quality...it'll be top notch.

Holds more than I need it to.  Don't have any experience with the others.

I have been using a S.O. Tech Mission Go Bag for about a year now and it is a very nice bag.  Quality is top notch and made in the USA.  The layout is very organized and it is very customizable.  Inside the main compartment there are 4 internal dividers with draw strings that can each fit 5 STANAG magazines if desired.  Can be worn as a backpack, waistpack, satchel, or attached to another bag or load bearing equipment.  I use it to carry a little bit of everything:  extra ammo, first aid, batteries, flashlight, food/water.  If you are looking for something discreet, they sell the bag in a variety of non-military colors including blue, orange, and red.  The one I use is khaki and I would like to get another.

I have an old army duffle bag I use as mine. It's stuffed with a change of clothes, some other essentials, home made MRE's, quick medical supplies, etc etc.

Cost me 5$ at an outdoor swap meet.

I have nothing against old Army surplus bags, I just want to treat myself to something more modern this time around...

ETA: I am going with a Maxpedition Active Shooter (Pals front) bag.

It has basically everything that I was looking for in a Go Bag, and the price (on Ebay) is reasonable too.

It also says on Maxie's website that it was quote, "Designed in collaboration with Extreme Gear Labs", so that pretty much seals the deal for me..

Eagle makes good stuff! No doubt about it. And I'm sure that's a great bag and all, it's just a little too big for my needs...

One of these Eagle Gadget Bags would work. If only they had put some internal organization in them. Or even if they would lined them with velcro...

Yeah, I saw that one.

It was in the running for awhile, but I am not really a fan of open top bags. Even though it has a flap that goes over the top of the bag, I would still like to be able to zip the main compartment closed; and this one doesn't...

To be honest, I've tried several different go bags, and always end up going back to a plain old Eagle AIII pack. They hold more, are easier to carry and are only $100 or so (sometimes $60-$80 used on the EE).

Yeah, an Eagle A-III or ATS RAID II is in the plans. But since I already have an older Camelbak BFM that is pulling pack duties, a new bag is my current priority.

I have been looking at the LaRue Survival Bag for a while now, at 25.00 it looks hard to beat.

looks vs. function?

I was never impressed with this option

lets take an Eagle double mag pouch and mate it to a Maxpedition versa pack baseline platform.

That's what the Rapid Deployment Pack is.  Two 2x30 rifle mag pouches, a pistol mag pouch, and a hidden pistol holster pouch, all built around a typical maxpedition pouch.

yeah lets mate up two pieces of kit from other mfg's into a kludge that may or may not satisfy a requirement.

from their (US PeaceKeeper) website "Creativity: To transcend industry standards and promote inventive product development and progressive design improvement"

so much for coming up with original design - but then again that in itself is an often encountered element in the nylon industry - but I digress

wasnt impressed with this baggy when I first encountered it a few years back and was doubly unimpressed with USPK's reps at SHOT 10

Well, I ordered a large Eagle Industries Gadget bag from SKDTAC just a few minutes ago. They were all out of multicam, so I went with coyote brown instead. With Christmas right around the corner, and my bank account depleted, I thought this would give me an affordable, yet quality bag.

Maybe I can have someone sew some velcro inside this bag down the road. Anyone know of someone who offers this service?

Do you mind posting some pics of it with something for size reference (AR mag, Pistol, etc) when you get it?

Oh, and for velcro, just take it to a local tailor. They should do it for a couple bucks. If you need velcro, try supplycaptain.com

Sure. As soon as it gets here, I'll post something..

I use a Kelty Redwing 3100 for my Go Bag. It's more of an escape from the house in case the shit hits the fan bag. It's pretty big and I can put anything and everything in it. My coyote brown (large) Eagle Industries Gadget bag just showed up. This is a fantastic basic bag for the price. The build quality is excellent, with large smooth-flowing dual (#9) YKK zippers that zip all the way to the bottom. The large metal pull tabs will soon be replaced with quieter 550 paracord...

It would've been nice if they had taped the internal seams. Oh well, I am going to take it to a local tailor to have them tape the seams, as well as have some velcro panels sewn on the sides of the bag...

Here are two pics that I quickly took. My Eagle (M4 FB - 3 Mag) chest rig drops right in, and it easily zips shut.

(The OD pouch is an Eagle Upright GP/Utility pouch with a stocked ATS Tactical Medical insert inside..)

(The brown blanket is for my stupid cat to sleep on..)
