I'm looking for a pack for a Christmas gift. Like a blackhawk! or 5.11. It needs to have a compartment for a laptop (with padding and the like) and also suitable for travel.

Thanks guys
Bob

Take a look at Lowepro.

They're the standard in camera packs and they have models for laptops also.

Here's their packs with laptop compartments:

That one looks interesting.  Could probably find it within your price range with a bit of online shopping.

I picked up a Columbia Hunter Green colored back from a local ski shop for $25 brand new. It can hold 3 days worth of clothing and shoesin it and has a padded compartment for a laptop and extra pouches for cables, router, and all kinds of other shit needed for a laptop. I mainly used it as a gym pack though but it has come in handy as a travel pack. No MOLLE straps on it but it is low pro which doesn't catch anyones eye. I have put 4 AK 30rd steel mags in the two back compartments and  boxes of 12 gauge shotshells also while using it as a travel bag. .
