hey guys.

a few weeks/months ago there were several threads regarding the Condor Tactical Soft Shell.

Very few arfcomers actually received their jackets as they were sold out/on backorder very
soon.
However, those who actually did receive their jackets were really happy. But, everyone said
they were running one size smaller than normal, e.g. if you normally wear an L, buy an XL.

I received mine today (finally, Tan+Black) and I CAN NOT confirm this!!!

I wear a TAD Gear Stealth Jacket in M, Patagonia Guide in M and both are rather snug. So, I ordered
the Condor in L.
Well, I guess I should have ordered M instead, the L fits just like an L should

...just wanted to let everyone know. It's an awesome Jacket for the money (80 bucks) and I will be
placing an order for size M (Tan+Black+OD) tomorrow...I guess Condor got their sizing right when they
made this 2nd batch of jackets

Still waiting on mine from USCAV i bought months ago.  My third "scheduled shipping" email said some time in June.  Crossing fingers.

Sizing is kinda strange they are more half sizes than anything xxl = a 1.5 xl it seems xl = a 1.5 Large

kinda like they are not full sizes if that makes any sense...

These are in stock all over the place (Lots of air soft websites have them)

I would say they run large not small.  I normally wear a medium to large in military blouses, and a large condor was very loose on me.

I ordered mine last night....shipped this morning from US Patriot.  It seems like if they don't have it in stock, u can't add it to yer cart, as the X-Large coyote doesnt pop up on the drop down, but it does for every other color.  I usually wear a large, but ordered XL just in case, I suppose if this jackets a little too big, I will order the coyote in L.  I went with the foliage in XL, hoping I will like the color in person.

I back ordered one as well (Ordered on Sunday (5/30)). I'll update with pics when it arrives. I got mine at http://www.uoarmory.com/ and they are selling it with a free watch cap (while supplies last).

I'm not expecting anything Mil-Spec or super duty quality. I wanted a jacket that had similar features of a TAD Gear jacket at a price I could afford.
UO Armory said that they will be back in stock within the first two weeks of this month (June)

ETA: I also have read that they run a little small, but I ordered a size larger. Even if it is a little big I will probably keep it in case I want to layer inside with another fleece if it gets cold enough for it. I sent an email to the CS at UO Armory to see what they think about the sizing.

I just recieved mine from US Patriot...ordered it two days ago and it landed at my door this morning....NOT BAD!!  I would recommend people order the size u ussually wear.  I normally am a Large, well probably medium-large, so I ordered the XL, since folks said they run small....well I should have ordered a Large....the XL isn't bad, in fact it may turn out better for CCW'ing, but it is a bit longer and kinda big on me.

Still waiting on mine from Condor that I order ages ago.  last email update I recevied said delivery in June.  Well its July and nothing.  I sent an email last week asking to cancel my order and haven't received confirmation yet.  This is my first, and only problem with USCav. I know it's not thier fault that Condor hasn't manufactured them, but its still pissing me off.  It's summer now and while I have no current use for the jacket, I'm leaving for Afghanistan next month so I hope I have it before I leave.

There is every size and every color. When I ordered mine it shipped fast and couldent be happier. They also have a very good review of it next to the TAD jacket it replicates.

After reading the original reviews, I too, ordered a size larger than I normally wear (XL - L). I finally received it yesterday, 4.5 months after having ordered it on March 8th from US Cav.

My problem/dilemma now is that the XL is a tad too big - I normally wear a large. Do I dare return it in exchange for a LARGE? How much smaller are the LARGES versus the XL's?

How is the outer fabric?

Is it more like Gore-Windstopper type fabric or more like Gore-Tex Pro?

I really like my Arcteryx layers but I'm thinking about one of these as a get-it-greasy-knock-around.

ETA: I understand that it is a soft shell.

The ongoing concern over sizing has me stalled out here. According to the Chart on UOArmory a Large is 46" Chest.  That is EXACTLY what mine measures after a two month layoff from working out (injured - not lazy ).  What I can't tell is the 46" a spot-on measurement or is it "If your chest is 46" you will have room to move" measurement. I don't want to swim in it but I don't want it to fit like a compression shirt either.  Can anyone who has received one recently recommend which way to jump on the size (L or XL)? - - Thanks

Check on the "order your normal size" posts !

Got mine earlier this year and a "large" fits like a large (maybe just a bit bigger).

Agree that's it a great jacket & good value - especially considering the price.

Ok, finally got a bunch-o-pics of the jacket.
Here is the jacket and the free watch cap that UOArmory throws in. It does fit like a watch cap should (over your ears and down to your neck).

Interior of the jacket is completely fleece lined.

The two chest pockets look exactly like this on both sides. One drawback that I already noticed is that the pen pocket is too shallow for a Bic pen to fully seat and clip on. But both the pen pocket and the "iPod pocket" are fleece lined on the insides (very nice touch). There is also a D-Ring with some elastic to secure keys or anything else. Another nice touch is the bungee inside that you can pull on to tighten the hood while your hands are inside the pockets. If you pull the bungee while the hood is in the collar, it tightens the collar around your neck. There is also a cord patch for headphones

Bungees and secured clamps around the waist to keep in hot air...

The interior pockets can fit a wallet quite easily. They are both fleece lined too.

Here are a few pics of the hood... This is the back showing the bungee you can pull to increase your peripheral vision..

The interior of the hood is lined with a micro fleece. Not as heavy as the lining in the jacket, but that keeps the collar from being HUGE

And the hood is secured shut with Velcro.

Here is a detail pic of the exterior of the arm pockets and the Velcro. The Velcro isn't as deep as some, but my patches grab on very well. All of the zippers on this jacket look like this (which I really like). All of the zippers are made by the company "SBS"

Inside of the arm pockets there are headphone patch throughs too but the pocket is not fleece lined

The forearm pocket is great for storing a tube of chap stick or some other light objects such as train cards, ID, plastic money (credit/debit card), or whatever.

The back pocket, threw in a Pmag for scale. You can see that they tailor the back to help cover your rear. The lining in this pocket is a mesh material (check one of the above pics)

ETA: Since it was raining buckets this afternoon, I decided to put on the jacket and test out its waterproofing...
Now, Condor does not advertise this as a rain coat so I am not surprised and actually somewhat pleased with the results. I wasn't just standing out in the rain for this test. I was standing at the corner of the house where the majority of the roof water drains off of, so it was like a continuous garden hose pouring on me. I stood there for about two minutes.
The back and hood pretty much to the most of the hit. No leaking through the back at all. The only leak I did have was in the back pouch. I accidentally left one zipper open during the test, so the majority of the water could have leaked through there, but there was leaking on the other side as well. It should be noted though that the fleece watch cap I keep in that pouch was perfectly dry.
I also had a leak when I pulled my hands up to adjust the hood. water flowed into the sleeves because I didn't have them secured shut. Once I shut them with the Velcro cuff tabs, I didn't have another leak.
Back

Hood - Zero water penetrated through.

Back pouch

I found a weak spot also near the hood. I think that water got inside of the hood pouch and built up enough that it started to flow down the front of the jacket. This is where I felt the water coming from...

The water then went straight down the front of the jacket. I was still dry everywhere else...

I tried to get water on the main zipper to see if it would leak through. When I was trying to get water through the zipper, I didn't feel any go through. I'de like to test this again and try to keep water out of the hood pouch.
In a light-medium rain, I'de say you will probably stay dry and warm. When water is pouring on you as if its from a garden hose, you might get a little wet

ETA2- After drying the jacket, I checked where the water was leaking through. There is a grommet inside the jacket where the bungee cord goes down into the pocket. This grommet is elevated a little bit to try to keep water from doing this, but it didn't help in the long run. I think one way Condor could modify their design would be to add an additional grommet to the outside of the hood below the interior grommet to drain out any water that accumulates in the hood pouch.

This jacket also drys very quickly. After about 20 minutes in the dryer on low and inside out (per directions on the jacket), it was almost completely dry.

I have an UnderArmor jacket similar to these but it doesnt have a hood....I just placed an order for one of these today. I'm hoping it will be a good kick around not afraid to get dirty jacket. I will probably keep it in my Jeep from fall on just in case.

If one did not want the look of the velcro on the arms, would it be reasonable to cut the threads off of it or will this ruin the jacket?

From the pics it looks more like just tan than the coyote tan shown in the product photos. Is yours lighter in color or is it just the lighting in the photos?

It depends on the lighting. In some lights it looks tan and some it looks more towards coyote. All around, I would say its tan though.

So what would you guys rate this jacket at in terms of minimum temp range to wear this and be comfortable.

Is this a Fall Jacket or Something you can wear in the winter when the temp gets around 20 degrees?

I've been using a 5.11 3 in 1 Parka for a couple winters now and it's time to get a new coat.

if its anyhting like the real version (TAD gear Spectre LRP and Stealth hoodie) it works well in winter, fall and spring.
But in winter I tend to layer with my TAD gear Recon hoodie. Or a zipup/pull over hoodie. My Spectre LRP had
a fleece inner which made a difference but the Spectre LT has none (spring model) but still works great with a layer in the winter.

Just a heads up––I purchsed one today from these guys:  AWS

I was in their brick and mortar store today, and paid $68.88 for it.  They had a ton, in colors Coyote, Foilage and Black.

Not sure what the price is on the site, but I know that if you call, you will get the price.  He said that they will go back up to $89 soon.

I hope that helps out.

Thanks. The 5.11 Parka is fine for standing still out in the cold, but it gets way to hot when I'm doing anything physical so I'm thinking this will be a good winter jacket and if the temp drops crazy low I can just toss on a base layer or sweater.

The Condor actually has some insulation to it, making wearable in a little cooler weather compared to the TAD jackets which are wind shells only.

Without adding a few layers of insulation a TAD doesn't work all that well in real cold weather because it has no insulation to it.

The LRP works great. The LT not so much. I have owned both. The LRP has a fleece lining. The LT does not. Personally i like the LT.

I'm in south central Wisconsin, and bought this as a fall / spring jacket. Got it last week though, and now pretty much share your opinion - I expect to be able to wear it through the winter, with the addition of a polar fleece under layer in the coldest months.

Lots of comments on sizing, I assuming these are mainly about girth. How does the jacket measure for length? I usually wear an XL Long from Cabela's and tall or long shirts when I can find them. Are these jackets trending long, short or just regular?

There is a size chart here with the measurements of the jacket. Measure yourself, or a jacket that you have that fits you perfectly to see how it compares.

Thanks for the heads-up.  I called them and they gave me the $68.88 price and was told it would ship out yesterday.  I'm one of those guys that generally waits to buy "top-drawer" kit but at that price (and the good reviews) I couldn't afford NOT to give it try!
