I know this question wont make sense to most but I've been wondering for a while.  What are these "scarfs" called that people have been wearing and using as backdrops in their photos?  They are tan and black and seem to have some middle eastern type pattern.  Curiosity has gotten me.

They are called a shemagh, or a keffiyeh

found some on amazon and ebay, but IF I get one I want to make sure I get a nice comfortable one.  More for "range day" fun and backdrop for photos and such.  Are these found at local places or any of our forum vendors carry them?

I picked one up of LApolicegear for $7 a while back. Most Surplus stores have them as well

I got one from a local surplus shop, and then a "real" one from a friend who went over seas. Both of them bleed like a sum be-otch when they get wet. I'm not sure what it will do to your expensive gear, but it left my forehead and neck green. I washed both of them a few times before this happened too which kind of threw me off. Even hand washing it and letting it soak the color will just keep coming out although I didn't notice it getting any lighter. Don't know much about them but it seemed strange to me.

I've had one that started as part of a ren costume 15 years ago - a tan and black plaid fabric.

You can buy 'em or make them.

You may want to check it out. Mine will do it if I fill the sink full of water and toss it in there. With in a couple minutes you will see the dye coming out. Maybe mine are total tourist fakies.  I do need to go snag a tan one for an upcoming pistol class I'm taking. That should throw the instructors off.

anyone got any lines on "real" ones?  I assume the cheapies on eBay arent legit, nor do I know if "legit" ones differ much from whats on eBay.
