I need to get myself a new pack. I already have a ruck that has held up super but my personal pack has fallen apart and I am sick of replacing the piece of shit. I was looking at the Maxpedition Falcon 2 is it any good or can you point me in the direction of something else along the same lines as the Falcon 2? I need a pack that can take a beating like you wouldnt believe.

TAD has the fastpack litespeed which is a 1300 cu in, its a little smaller than the Falcon 2, but i would bet it would take a lifetime of abuse and then some, i plan on getting one in foliage next week (if they have not sold out yet)

No exp. with that particular Maxpidition pack, however Gunny most Maxpidition items are solid build. If you are looking for a new pack, esp. to take to a bad place I'd look to the ATS Raid II, the Eagle AIII / Eagle MOLLE AIII  or Tactical Tailor 3d assult pack. All GTG and can stand up to soldier, in your case Marine, use and abuse. The T.T. pack I believe you can get in desert MARPAT if you don't want the Coyote like everyone else. You can not go wrong with any of the 4 packs above, if they fit your pack needs (size & design).

What is your job and what are you planning on doing with it?  I am a big fan of Kifaru.

Iam going to need it to hold up from anything from getting in and out of vehicles all the time to with standing the highly abrasive terrain of the 'Stan.

I started off with an ATS RAID pack on my current deployment to A'Stan, but unfortunately it got stolen from the CONEX while in BAF (along with all my winter gear!).  So, I've been using the issued assault pack for the last three months, and while it holds a lot, it sucks.  Everything in it seems to form a ball in the very bottom and it feels like I'm carrying a midget around on the small of my back!  I finally couldn't take it anymore, and two days ago I splurged for the ATS RAID II pack, along with a bunch of pouches.  I can do a nice review once I get it, but the selling point was the new strap system and the MOLLE on the inside so that I can put my extra smokes, frags and flares and stuff inside without having to tape the snot out of the spoons!  That'll make me (and my buddies) feel a lot safer!  I was intent on getting the Kelty Raven 2500 pack, but I couldn't find ANYWHERE that had it in stock...  The RAID pack is great, lots of space, and completely modular.  The new strap system is supposed to work a lot better while wearing armor too...

I have a Falcon II, but I was never in the military so I don't know how much use I can be. I think the Falcon would be fine for carrying a relatively light load and not travelling long distances. I would think it would hold up fine. Maxpedition stuff is made in asia but seems pretty tough. If you are mostly travelling around in a vehicle and just want to have water, some food a poncho etc I think it would be fine. You aren't going to fit something like a heavy jacket in it.
If was going to be travelling any significant distance on foot or carrying any significant weight I would take a Kifaru. I have an express and zulu and several scouts. I have never used one, but I think a marauder would be easier to keep stuff organized in. Kifaru is pretty sturdy also. If you are carrying 40-50 pounds or more you might want a Navigator or Pointman, but I don't have one of those. The downside to Kifaru is time and money. I guess if you call they will put military guys at the front of the line.

Camelbak motherlode is another smaller pack with no frame that would be okay for a light load of personal stuff. Mine has held up but not really been abused. It's a little bigger than the falcon II I had an eagle a3 but did not care for the lack of interior organization, some guys like that better. That's a tough pack also.

Iam defiantly leaning toward the Moosepack and for the price you cant beat it.

Kifaru makes great packs, but they are pricey.  I don't go many places without my ATS RAID Pack.

Eberlestock packs are the best around IMO.  Kifaru is also in the "best around category".

Either will serve you well.

Check out camelback. I have one of theirs that has survived 2 deployments and still going strong, I like it much better than the old blackhawk one I was issued.

Hey guys:

I have no idea what your needs are, but I had to put in a plug for the Blackhawk Raptor X1. It's Spec Ops quality, with 2500 cubic in.

I absolutely love mine.

The Army issued assault pack works fine, but the Eagle IIIA pack is nice.
