| I was in my local gun store the other day and I saw a UTG backpack. It had the full Molle webbing system, a TON of pockets and organizers, removable ar-15 pouches, set up for hydration, a clear map pocket, comm/antennae slit, and a few other features that were really nice. Price was $50 I believe, and budget is a concern right now. The bag looks and feels awesome. I was realy surprised at the feel and the quality of the bag....BUT I know that looks and feeling can be deceiving..so does anybody have experience with the UTG backpacks? My only experience with UTG is a AR soft case that has held up very well to moderate use. Thanks! |
| Heh no..but the alternative is diplomat found at LAPG, and those packs dont have nearly as many features. The cheapest alternative that I could find is this –– http://www.lapolicegear.com/medium-modular-style-assault-pack.html. The cheapest "quality" pack I could find was the Maxpedition Lunada Gearslinger..and although it look AWESOME the price is a little high for me and it looks a little small...the pack itself looks ROCKIN though...with the exception of it being a single strap design. |

What are you trying to carry? How often do you carry it? Can the purchase of a backpack wait till more funds are acquired? ACU Work? its a $200+ Pack for $55 http://www.atstacticalgear.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=1037 CXS |

I am using it to carry just "stuff" for now...would like molle capatability so that I can attach my med pack to it..Other than that it will carry everything for going out with family or by myself..a plethera of things really..here's some of the likely contents just off the top of my head:
Handheld HAM radio couple spare mags for Glock laptop misc survival stuff- short term med pack pens flashlight kids stuff (like a couple diapers, wipes, small snacks, etc) Basically, I am looking for something that I can take wherever I go that has the stuff I need. I HATE having to go out the door with a diaper bag, my pants absolutely loaded with stuff, stuff thrown about the car, and still never having exactly what I need. I am going on vacation in two weeks and wanted something to keep all of my misc stuff in for the trip. Roadtrips and exploring are a b*tch when you are not prepared.. I am also joining the USAF and *may* use the pack to hold things for duty. I'm going Security Forces so it would be used pretty often...we'll see about that use though. Probably will pick up something better for that, but it would be nice to have something for tech to lug stuff around in, etc.. |
| Truth be told you should wait till you have more cash to purchase a bag that will actually work. I'm not a big fan of UTG bags because they're just cheap compared to the plethora of well made products that you can get online or at a clothing and sales store (will be near the BX when you join). Look at Camelbak or Eagle Industries for a less expensive solution, especially if you're going to be using it when you're in the military. |

I have searched for more pics, but cant find any. Is the interior all one large compartment? ACU is fine. Is this pack high enough quality for me to use in a professional environment (thinking that USAF comment I made earlier)? |

I live about ten minutes from Tactical Tailor outside of Fort Lewis in WA....wish I had the cash. I'm digging that RAID pack posted above..input on that? |
| Anything from TT is golden. I have several pieces of kit from them and they've stood up over the years, patrols, and crawling around. I've also had this Camelbak BFM for just as long. I only consider new bags now because of the development of multicam and preparations for EOTWAWKI. |
| Sweet...thanks a lot for the advice, and for your service kudzu! I can get the ATS RAID pack for $58.95 SHIPPED...sounds like a good deal. Looks like a good pack, and for the exact same price (maybe even less after tax) as the UTG I don't think I could go wrong...what do you think? Is the ATS RAID good to go at $58 shipped? |

| ATS is another industry standard that many guys have for their daily carry bags or BOBs. I've never known someoen to complain about it and PALS is a good way to add more to the bag if you want. At $55, so long as its not unicam crap, its a bargain and if it breaks you're not out that much. |
