I looked around and this seems the most logical place to pose this question..

Does  anyone use Surefire Sonic Defender Plus for hearing protection when shooting AR/AK outdoors?
Are they better than foam plugs?
Do you leave the stopper plugs in all the time?

i own a set  and they work well. I leave the plug in all the time. If you don;t have to take them in and out a lot they are very comfortable for me .

They are the shiz...wore mine to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot

in KY...stood next to the .50 cal running full auto with no probs...granted

I think my heart stopped one or twice from the shockwaves...the soft jelly

material is so damn comfortable...

I leave the "plugs" in most the time...everyone else with foams in are screaming at you anyways, so might

as well scream back lol....I really didn't notice a huge difference with them out anyways..

Good foam plugs have a NRR around 32-33.  The Surefire NRR is 16 to 19.

If you are going to be around sustained firing or doing the shooting yourself, go with the plugs (and muffs, if possible).

There comes a point at which the ringing never goes away...
