For all those interested. This is NOT general Discussion.

There have been SEVERAL posts within the last week that I for one find demeaning and somewhat offensive. This is a gear community. designed for those hobbyists, active military, or active LEOs that are interested in owning tactical gear. This TECHNICAL FORUM is geared up for help in configuring your hardware, or help finding something you may or may not already know about. It is NOT a place to question whether or not someone is going to use their gear or not. it is pretty much a given that there are people on this entire board that dream of zombies attacking, the world as we know it collapsing, etc. it is also a given that active duty military, reserve military and active duty law enforcement officers post on this board.  in fact in one of the tacked threads you'll see where the person posting is specifially asked to post why they are looking for the gear. so that we can avoid negative comments and be more constructive towards helping them with their purchase.

to date there is a good bit of information available on this board, including several threads that will never see the archive. they are here so that the layman, who has taken an interest in tactical gear, can make an informed decision on what they want to purchase.

re-read what you've typed before you hit the submit button. if you would take offense to being called an idiot, being sworn at (which is a coc violation to begin with), or hammered over your use of YOUR gear, please feel free to hit the CANCEL icon. if you would take offense to your own comment, probably someone else will as well.

joker, if i'm off base with this post, please delete it.

i'm not trying to call anyone out. nor am i trying to get them in trouble with the mods. i'm just annoyed with the way some of the topics/posts have been going lately.

if i change my mind i'll hit the report button. but for now i just want it to stop.

Actually, I've been stretched pretty thin between a couple of jobs lately and haven't been able to keep as close an eye out as I'd like.

calicojack, I'd sure appreciate it if you'd IM me with links to the threads you are talking about. I understand that you don't want to bring heat on anyone and that is commendable, but I'm about to get busy going through threads, so it'd be a big help with something I'm going to find anyway.

I don't really like to play the heavy handed moderator but I have very limited patience for GD style antics in this forum. I know I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but this is NOT the place for that and it will not be tolerated.

Yep.

Your reply to the thread in question was pretty blunt and probably a little bit rude, but not really all that bad. The post following yours also had a bit on an assholeish slant to it. The difference between the two is that yours actually had a somewhat helpful perspective while his was in "you don't need that shit" territory.

Your input, like everyone else's, is appreciated here provided that it is constructive. Occaisionally, someone posts something here that really does deserve ridicule and I let that ridicule slide because I believe it has its place, but outright rudeness, insults, and other bullshit will not generally be tolerated in this forum.  In the future, I'd appreciate it if you'd try to word your posts in a slightly less abrasive manner in order to help keep the discussion on track.

For everyone else, this is a technical forum and it is intended to promote technical discussions. If you don't have anything useful(or at least good natured) to add then you are better off not posting in here at all.

Copy that. I sometimes slip as I am use to talking to LEO or criminals...so I am, indeed, blunt. I certainly didn't mean harm, and wouldn't pat my back for pissing someone off. I just find that the best way to help someone is to find their frame of reference, have them define their goals, then direct them accordingly. I don't like to see people throwing money at a problem that can't be solved with just gear. If I have rubbed anyone the wrong way, I sincerely apologize. This is not an excuse, I'm simply offering insight. As usual, feel free to contact me via e-mail, as I don't accept PMs. Thank you.

You'd think a bunch of people who seem so willing (at least on the internet) to shoot someone might harden the f*ck up.  I think dubb-1 was spot on.  The guy was (is) making a costume for when the zombies come or living out his Red Dawn fantasy, and dubb-1 is in trouble for injecting some reality?  The only reality in 7 pages of posts?  I like this sight a lot, but I think this is why others mock AR15.com.  And who the hell is calicojack to call anyone out?  If he's as hard as his screen name, he wouldn't be whining.

What makes you think dubb-1 or anyone else is "in trouble"? Like I said, constructive advise is always welcome here. What isn't welcome is anyone acting like a dickhead and disrupting the discussion here. Dunn-1 didn't do that. His wording was a bit abrasive and that is the kind of thing that causes decent threads to collapse into pissing matches. This isn't the part of ar15.com where that is encouraged, so I asked him to word his future posts differently in the interest of keeping the peace.

Others can mock ar15.com all they want. I'm not going to let my piece of this board collapse into a massive clusterfuck free-for-all with no productive discuusion going on because of a few guys who demand that nobody discuss gear that they aren't deemed qualified to own.

Please feel free to patronize another board if this one doesn't meet your standards.

for the record. i'm not whining. i'm trying to keep people here. all that being a dickhead does is alienate people. it sends out the whole:

"well hell. if that's the type response i am going to get, i'm not going to post anymore" mentality. that is what we are trying to discourage. we want people to feel free to ask questions or look to the community for advice. if you can't offer constructive criticism politely, then don't offer it at all.

The reason for that, is some feel that only the HSLD guys should have any kind of gear. They don't like the idea that this site is meant for all gun owners, even the High Fat, High Drag ones. It's not up to us to decide how people choose to spend their money. If they want to buy all kinds of gear, that is up to them.

My hope is that most of the people (who don't use it for a living), are buying and using the gear for training, competition, etc... If some aren't, hopefully they will learn from our discussions, and then decide to find a more practical use for the gear they are buying.

Also, a lot of the complaints about this site stem from the juvenile discussions that seem to come about from people swinging their e-penis around.

I did too.  Damn straight rigth there.

I admit, I relatively new to AR15.com, but have come to enjoy it.  I really only hang out in 3 or 4 of the forums here and out all of them, the Tac Gear thread is one of my favorites.  While I still consider myself in FNG status around here, I have seen threads and times when folks rip on someone else for what they are asking or trying to do.

Sometimes, its valid...  as in " you really try to run all that weight, your going to tear your junk to shreds"    Other times, someone is ripping the OP cause its not Brand X or is he setup with a drop leg and ankle holster in mismatched gear with a MOLLE converted to ALICE gear slung over a chest rig sewn to a place carrier with 4 multi tools and 18 mags....  all in ACU.

While some of us giggle maybe, who cares, its his money, his cash and his fun.  Spend it anyway you want, build and run anything you want.  At the minimum, he's spending money at someone's place and helping someone to stay in business,

And if all else fails,  if flipping through a Zombie  Tac Gear Mag gets you through another boring work week, more power to you.

I agree with Joker and Calicojack.  Like your Mama said, if you cant say something nice, dont say anything.

All I gotta say is when the Zombies are banging on your window I hope you think of me?

My skin is plenty thick so it's really hard to offend me. I just think it's funny how people who don't know thing one about the whoever it is they're bashing. Thanks CJ for bringing this up I was thinking of bringing this to Jokers attention but decided it wasn't really worth the effort. Let's keep it civil guys there are way more people who just read these threads before they post if they even ever do. I'd be willing to bet that there are people who've been scared off by some peoples replies in this forum. Let's remember why this forum is here and play by the rules.

No worries man. Not offended at all. I just don't want what has been a helpful thread ruined by negativity. I've had new/er members PM me about both that thread and my 1st, 2nd, 3rd line thread and saying how helpful they were but didn't want to post for fear of being ridiculed.

But no sweat man. Like I said, thick skin. So no harm no foul.

Good. Between work, and home (wife is LEO, too), I am pretty blunt. Add to that 3 weeks of medical leave, and, yeah, you get the picture. Anyway, I'm not here as a salesman. In fact, I don't "work it" on any forums. I am passionate about LEO, firearms, and seeing the good guys better prepared than the bad guys. But, as you see by my low post count, I am aware that I don't fit in particularly well here. I try, but apparently I need some more work. Where did I put my therapists number again?

LMAO

Sometimes you just have to take a breath and caaaaalm down. We're moving to the Sonoma County area in Cali this summer and I'll be attending the academy then on to the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office. I do understand what it is you're saying about the gear I have. I also didn't know you were LEO so that explains the motives behind your comments. The setup I have is more of a bug-in/mounted bug-out setup. I have other pieces of gear for other needs. Low-pro, completely covert. What I've been asking about setup wise is more along the "full battle rattle" line.

Glad we had this chat. I'm looking forward to your input more in the future.

for some reason we can never come to terms with that topic. see my old "the gray man" thread. if it hasn't hit the archives. if it has, we need to start another.
