I will need a grab and go vest or chest rig or maybe even a bag would do.My goal is to find something that would work well with my daily carry rig or duty belt.I need something that will not hinder access to my pistol, mags and duty gear on my belt while on duty. The criss cross chest rigs look like a guy could get "tangled up" when trying to get one on under stress.

You will probably get better replies over at the Tactical Gear section. Go to the Armory heading above and then scroll down to Tactical Gear. Good luck and welcome.

Traditional vests are almost never compatible with hip holsters, unless those holsters are mounted to a web belt attatched to the vest itself. Even then, the results are often less than ideal.

The chest rigs can be tricky to put on in a hurry, but quickly donning one is a skill that can easily be perfected with practice.

I'm a security contractor, and I routinely wear soft armor and plates in a BCS carrier (http://www.beezcombatsystems.com/) with a TT MAV and a Galco hip holster.  Works great for me, as I've never been a big fan of drop leg holsters.  The edge of my vest just comes between the holster and my side.

It really depends on a lot of factors - your build, what kind of kit you wear, your vest, etc.  I think a lot of guys wear vests lower than they really need to, which can interfere with wearing stuff on your belt.  If I switch away from a high ride holster I'll probably look into something that rides like a police duty holster rather than a drop leg.

Re: chest rigs - The MAV I wear at work has a yoke (I forget what TT calls it) that it very quick and easy to put on.  You can also get a MAV that opens in the front, and it's about as hard to put on as an old school H harness.  Whatever you choose, just practice with it when you can, and before you know it you'll be able to put it on like a fireman getting into his bunker gear.

Hope this helped.

ETA:

You can't see it, but I've got a Galco belt holster on my right hip.

I know/have seen a lot of guys that use a plate carrier and a regular hip holster.  Just never seen it with someone wearing full-on assault kit.

The guys wearing hip-holsters wore them pretty much all the time, so adding armor was the big issue for them.

the Eagle and SKD chest rigs have foam padding in the straps that help keep a 'arch' of sorts that makes putting it on not very hard to do.

the yoke for the MAV is called the X-harness, and even the one piece with the yoke is not that hard to put on either.

i had a hsgi warlord v4 that used the "criss cross" shoulder straps. they were the primary reason i ditched it and went with a dedicated plate carrier setup. it was not something that you could get into in a hurry. imo, and ime (in my expierence). others will tell you differently. but in this game, it's all what works for YOU.

as to your hip holster, get a holster with at least a 1.5 drop and offset. ie: safariland 6285 or 6004/6005
