Looking around for a reasonably priced waterproof-ish backpack...was wondering if the Camelback packs would keep it's contents dry in a torrential downpour? Looks like they're just Cordura and the zippers don't look water tight either... I ask because my university rents out textbooks and if there is any hint of water damage you have to buy the book instead of just paying a few bucks to rent it. I spent over $120 on a textbook last semester that had a some water spots along the top edge of the pages... Anyway, was looking at a CamelBack Motherlode or something along those lines. Want something that I can walk in a heavy rain with and keep the precious cargo bone dry. Any suggestions? The zipper on my old backpack is going bad... |

I wouldn't count on it. To be waterproof you're looking at something more like this stuff www.thewaterproofstore.com/backpacks.html www.rei.com/search?query=drybag&button.x=0&button.y=0 |
Sounds like a good idea...I could just keep the cover in the pack and use it when it was pouring outside. Any suggestions on brand or where I could get one? Never really looked into anything of that nature... |

Cabelas has several ranging from about 10-25 bucks. |
