I am looking for some direction on simple helmets.  I dont know what you would call them, but something like you saw in the movie Black Hawk Down with the Delta guys were wearing?  Even seen some around here in the pictures.

I have my own ballstic helemt for when I am out in "bad country" but I am looking for light weight  (gets hot in this thing in the Arizona sun) and cheap...  budget is always an issue so I can pick up a few for myself and passenger(s).  Not so much for major crashes its just that the ride can get rough and there are times you  got to get in and out quick and whackin' your head is great way screw up your concentration...  so maybe call it operational head gear?

They almost remind me of a skater helemt and I have looked around, but they are all in junior sizes.

Tried Google but I keep getting either the ballastic or DOT type.

This is my ride and I use it occasion.  I volunteer so this my contrubution of getting off the couch and making this a safer/better place to be.  As you can see, the tube work can play hell, most notably to he guys that arent used to it, so a simple lightwieght helmet to take the sting off one smackin' hi head.

Found the name Protec in the "Gear Pr0n" thread.   Gave me a good lead but still up for others.

The Special Forces (Delta, Seals, etc...) used ProTec Stakeboard Helmets.

Same helmets are used for mountain biking too (so you might try that search)

No ballistic protection value, but those skater helmets kept them from getting their bell rung in entry and repelling operations.

Well, its known among my freinds as the "big ugly'.

I own a 4x4 fab shop and for part time kicks, I volunteer pretty heavliy with the local Sheriff's Office.  So when you take a guy who owns a 4x4 fabs hop and loves to build stuff and wants to help out protect his 'hood....  this what you get.

I use this about once or twice a month, depending on time of the year.  I help where ever and what ever the Office asks.  We gotta  a lot of desert out here to cover.

This was supposed to be my family desert toy, but it has found a new life in a new role.

Here's a better pic.

All the parts are from a late 70's Chevy 1/2 ton pick up.

You guys need to put a Pintle Mount on the overhead bars and a kickass Belt-Fed MG just for shitz & giggles to scare the sheeple!!!
