| My HSGI Bladder Pouch just came in (2 days after i ordered it). Now i need a bladder to put in it. recommendations? |
What he said. Especially the one with the large fill cap so you can reach inside to clean, or add ice cubes. Camelbak makes the best bladder I've seen or used. Blackhawk, Skillcraft, a couple other brands sold at REI and other local sporting goods stores are all second rate at best in comparison. I've only had a Camelbak leak twice. Once was a tear in the bladder, the other a bad oring in the cap. The only other problem I've had was I couldn't get the removeable valve out of it's socket without pliers. No big deal as I didn't use the filter adapter, or mask adapter with that one anyway. Others I've used leaked at the bite piece, or hte on/off valve. Some have leaked at the caps. Blackhawks were issued to my batallion once, and over half of them had some sort of leakage problem. These were new in the wrap when we got them. The bite valve in the Camelbak also delivers more water than any of the other bite valves. When I've used others that also had a manual valve, I'd just remove the bite valve. |
I like the base models, the Thermoback, and the Storm. Just for versatility. I can use them alone, or just strap them to a bigger pack. Some of the smaller cargo carrying ones are ok too, like the Hawg or MULE. If you only need to carry a small amount. I have a Motherlode, but don't use the bladder in it as it takes up a bit too much of the inside cargo space. |

this is probably the one i'm going to go with. It's the Sixbak

I picked up a Bladder only from Botach www.botachtactical.com/camomres.html CXS |
The MSR Drom bags are polyurethane-coated Cordura, which makes them strong and relatively light, though I suspect they're heavier than a standard un-Cordura'd reservoirs (Camelbak doesn't list the weight of their reservoirs). |
