(Figured I'd try here since the OP wasn't getting much traffic) Hey all- I wanted to get a case somewhere in quality/ruggedness between a standard plastic and a full blown pelican. Basically I have one each of those two and I need a "mama bear" case The only thing I've been finding in between those two styles in price are the ones with lots of aluminum trim, or the ones with a nylon exterior, neither of which I'm particularly fond of. So, any recommendations? I know I'm being pretty vague here but it's semi-intentional- I wanna see what's out there! |

The thing is I don't need something high end for this rifle- I'm basically looking to spend ~$60-80, placing it somewhere between the really cheap plastic ones and the ~$150+ ones you're describing. When I first set out to get one I thought to myself "this should be easy- just find a midline model that looks decent" but everything I find in that price range has that 70s aluminum trim I can't stand. There has to be higher end or at least more rugged plastic cases out there in that price range (?) |
I've had good luck with a $30.00 WalMart plastic case. I wouldn't want to fly with it, but for throwing in the bed of my pick-up truck or the back of the wifes SUV it offers more protection than a soft case. It will hold 1 scoped rifle and a pistol or my lever rifle and shotgun + 2 pistols when I go cowboy shooting. For a ATA rated case I like the Storm cases. I just checked and it's a CONTICO brand. |
