Borrow a flight suit.

Put on all your Zombie Killing gear.

Now try to touch the blades of your ceiling fan.

Really stretch - I mean STRETCH WAY UP.

Anything get cut in half?

I hate flight suits.

Yeah, there are definatley better options.  I got dropped off in a remote area once and the bird couldn't come back to pick me up.  Had to hike out quite a ways in my flight suit.  If you get too hot you just have to tie the upper portion around your waist, then it gets in the way of your pack ect.  They suck.

Snowshoes suck, because I once tried to water skii with them.

It really depends on what you are using it for. I wear one for work, due to IEDs and the fires they often leave behind. I love em. Get them on Ebay used, for cheap. I would not use one for camping.

+1

They're good for what they're good for, and yeah, they suck for almost everything else.  Mil-spec flightsuits are sized by chest girth in inches, along with the standard GI short-regular-long lengths.  For example I'm 6'-2" tall and I wear a 44L.  It's probably a safe rule-of-thumb to get the same size you wear in a suit jacket.

I assume you are talking nomex suits.  check ebay and the local surplus stores.

pretty much on with matching the jacket size.  not a whole lot of stretch room for full extension.

if you just want nomex, they make bdus in nomex as well.

they definitely dont hide a beer belly well.

nomex-cold in the winter, hot in the summer

Nah...

There is a REASON that the Army has gone away from flight suits to the AACU (Aviation ACU, 2-part flight uniform)....

You should be able to get ABDUs (Aviation BDU - same as AACU but woodland) surplus real easy, as we aren't able to wear them anymore....

All the fire-safety bennies of a flight suit, with the convenience of BDUs/ACUs....

You got me.  I should've asked what the flightsuit was for before throwing in my $.02

Unless someone might take a match to your greasy ass, there is absolutly no reason for a "flight suit", other than sweating your balls off...but looking cool.

with all due respect, how does that affect brands and the size scheme of flight suits? If he wants a flight suit, and you know what brand to get or how the sizes run, then post. If not, eat a bag of dicks and save your post.

ar15 is for helping people not questioning their purchase decisions.

if he wants clammy balls, let him have them. I dont have to smell em.

^^^^^ hahaha   Well I really dont know why I want one I just kinda do . Now I know they are basically useless and I will sweat my balls off but I still want to have one. Anyone know about the ones that run in S,M,L,XL how their sizes relate to height and what not. Thanks for the info above and the info to come.

Whoa.... we have a tough guy in here.

Listen jackass, I was going to suggest something else that is similar and probably better made. That's why I wanted to know what he was using it for.

I would look at the 5.11 Tactical TDU jumpsuit. It's very similar in design to a flightsuit but the pockets are in better locations. They are around $100.

no, not a tough guy by any measure. I just boiled over a bit. No hard feelings, bro. I've just seen too many guys say 'dood so ghey! get multicam!zor!' I just expected you to insult him in one way. Not all of the internet is full of assclowns, apparently. All apologies.

I just wanted OP to get an answer.

Not that you were really out of line, but arfcom has a bad rep for many reasons, one of which is people not being courteous.

Back to the show...

tactical gear command sells a modified nomex flightsuit on their site for about $300, only thing different I notices is belt loops.  Do as the other guy said and pick up some used ABDUs on egay.

I would get them a little large and a little long.  The biggest downfall of flightsuits is the crotch riding up, so you want them loose enough for the crotch to be plenty low.

I would call it more of an "upsurge", rather than a "downfall".

Actually there's a bitter debate in the aviation community over that. The Nomex ABDU tops have a chimney effect in some tests which will actually burn your upper body worse. There's a reason the NASCAR guys stick with one-piece suits. Me, I haven't been on flight status in four years and don't care one way or another, but if I was back in armored vehicles or flying, I'd prefer a one-piece.

Last year in Iraq I mentioned on Arfcom that my unit was short on flight suits and I had an Arfcommer send me an IM requesting the sizes of flight suits for my entire team.  A few days later we had brand new nomex flight suits in desert tan, in the correct sizes, two per soldier, that arrived via the mail.

I cannot recall his screen name.  I've mentioned it on Arfcom before, I just wanted to throw it out again.  He was from NC and was into Jeeps and owned or worked for some type of hardware business.

He continued to send us packages too.  Really cool stuff, 100% unsolicited.  It was pretty cool to go check your mail after a mission and have CRKT knives or tactical gloves waiting. (along with snacks, 4x4 magazines, Copenhagen)

We put together a pretty cool package of unit t-shirts, coin, patches, photos, flag, etc and sent to him, but it was in no way as cool as what he did for us.

Just had to throw that story out one more time.

That is unbelievable. I wish you could remember his name, we could all send him a "THANK YOU" of our unit patches and relics. That must have been one hell of a surprise!

To the mystery man, thank you for helping this individual and his brothers.
