| Hi guys i have a question whats the difference between a releasable body armor unit and a non-releasable?, and is it worth it to pay more for the releasable one? |
The difference is exactly what it says...one is releasable, via a cable or other similar system, the other requires you to manually remove the vest, like you put it on. The releasable system allows the wearer to get out of it quickly in an emergency, such as if you are wearing it and, for whatever reason, you end up in the water. Pull the cord/release mechanism and it falls away to the bottom of the lake or canal. but at least you (or your body) will float to the top for a little bit. The release also makes it easier to remove to treat someone wounded by rifle, frag or other "stuff" that the vest may not have stopped. A non-releasable, you have to remove it like you put it on. Worth it? Depends. If you are merely a range-jockey, or a person preparing for a SHTF Apocalyptic Collapse, then the extra $150-$300 may be worth spending in an other area, like firearm training. If you are a professional who needs this as part of your job, you already know the answer to that question. TimW Phoenix |
