Also when talking about wearing Soft armor with hard plates does that mean wearing a soft armor vest under say something like a Eagle CIRAS with hardplates in it.. or is it soft plate inserts and hard plate inserts that go into the CIRAS... little confused lol.

I wish we had a soft armor tack. I have a concealable soft armor vest. I am looking at getting a Plate Carrier.

Soft armor can be stand alone or part of the plate carrier.
The choice is your's.

CIRAS is an example of a setup that holds both soft armor inserts and has a separate compartment for just plates.  Plate Carriers are just that, carriers for your plates.  If you are wearing stand alone plates, they defeat the listed threat level with no soft armor underneath.   In-conjunction plates require you to be wearing a soft armor vest underneath to defeat the specific threat level.  Some companies have offered plate "backers" which are the same size as the plate and designed to fit in a plate carrier and act in-conjuntion with the plate.  However, you can't really expect a soft insert of that size to perform within NIJ parameters if the plate is hit close to the edge and there isnt enough soft armor around the bullet strike area.  We will be offering 10" x 12" test panels made of NIJ IIIa material, which can fit behind 10" x 12" plates, but it will specifically note that it will not meet the in-conjunction requirement of ICW plate.

Q. What would be a generic term for this setup?

Not sure there is a generic term for this, but it is almost always an overt tactical armor setup, versus a concealable one.  Concealment vests usually have plate pockets for a "trauma plate"- something that will reduce backface deformation and trauma, but is not rated for ballistic protection.

Overt, Hard & Soft armor carrier.
Overt, Hard armor carrier.
Overt, Soft armor carrier.

Concealable, not sure here. vest or carrier. Carrier sounds more generic.

Concealable, Hard & Soft armor carrier.
Concealable, Soft armor carrier.
Concealable, Hard carrier. Anyone make these?

If I used these terms would you understand what I am talking about.

I have a "Concealable, Hard & Soft armor carrier." I really do have this.

Thank You

Rip.
