Is anyone out there running a British Tac Vest or Belt kit?  I am currently debating what to get for a SHTF kit.
I want to be able to have mag pouches that fit the M4/AK74/M1A systems.

I am currently debating between a Blackhawk old style DOAV vest or a British army Tac vest.

For work I am currently running a TT MAV 2 piece that goes over an IBA.  I want to get away from the heavy load for a SHTF situation.  I am looking for just a simple throw it on vest with the capability to stow plenty of gear.

Any help out there on this.

Most of the Brits that I have worked with wore Arktis gear. The stuff is amazing and the prices arent bad either. Check it out

I used an Arktis 1601 Jungle vest for a long time and liked it very much.  The universal mag pouches are great.  But, in my situation I needed to also be able to use SMG mags and while they would fit in the pouches there was nothing to keep them from moving around if you opened the flap.
(when flap was closed you could draw the flap down tight with a strap and fastex buckle and they were fine, opening the flap lost the draw and they flopped around)
I was concerned that I would lose mags if the flap was open and I didn't have time to secure it with the fastex and draw it back down.  With the Rifle mags however, be it 5.56, 7.62, etc. they filled the pouch and it wasn't a concern as the velcro alone would hold it if shut quickly.  I know its hard to explain, I hope you can understand what i'm describing.
Other than that it was great.  It also carried 16 M4 mags comfortably. The water bladder carrier put the bladder away from your back not into it like US made Tac Vests are made.  Also you could fold the tips of the mag pouch flaps to cover the velcro for silent operation.

I have decided to get a PLCE 95 webbing setup.  My old LCE and belt aren't cutting it anymore.
I was debating between a vest and a belt setup, and I decided that the webbing will work better for me.

Anyone know where in the States I can find one.
The prices from the UK are entirely too expensive.

Try an Israeli vest, way better than our UK stuff.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread... but what movie is that picture from???

To contribute to the thread I have an Arktis Norloose Rig and I enjoy it very much. It's comfortable with a pack and fully adjustable and I can carry a lot of $hit in it.

The movie is "Proof of Life"

I think it came out around 2001 or so.

I used a Blackhawk DOAV vest during a two week field exercise.  I wore it over kevlar vest and found it very comfortable.  It distributed weight very well and I was able to store a lot of gear in it.  But that is also the down side of it.  There were times where I overloaded it and then it gets a bit heavy.  It also has the capability to hold a water bladder which I found took away some of the comfort as it didn't sit snuggly in it.  I just wore a camelbak over the vest.

Although I found it worked well I'm going with an Eagle PLC for the desert.

I have a Brit 'Soldier 95' vest. Not bad at all, though the plastic snap thingeemabobs that keep the pouches closed could be a bit bigger. The true issue vests are fairly expensive over here these days, so if you find one cheap, it's probably a knock-off.
