hello all!

I would like to see what all everyone is using these days...and hear about what is wroking and what isn't.  So, please, post some pics of the gear (vest really) and a little description about your likes and dislikes of it.

Don't forget to give details about the vest... such as (name, place of purchase, years)

Thanks!

The question I have is when exactly would you wear one...seriously.  I would never want to walk arount looking like a mall ninja.  What if in a natural disater all hell broke loose New Orleans scenario?  There are advnatages not looking like the poster child to tacticool fashion.  Maybe a rifle bugout bag is more practical?

This is the Hawkepak Rifle Bug Out Bag from Onesourcetactical.com  Can hold 3 AR mags lot's of other pouches and internal pockets, velcro fuzzy interior or black hawk tyle holsters, a water bottle pouch, etc...  It's what I use.

Interceptor OTV with plates.
They way I look at it, if I ever have to shoot at someone, that means they probably are shooting at me too.

I agree with you to a point.Low profile can be a good thing.
I prefer something that can easily be worn under a coat and not be too easily seen.
That's why I choose the this chest rig from Eagle. It will hold 8 AR
mags and 4 pistol mags and even your Glock without being too bulky.
But I also want to be prepared for a Katrina type disaster on a national scale.
When it dosen't matter how you look,as chaos will be prevailent.
For something like that a plate carrier with plates might be a good idea.
In which case I would go with my the HSGI Weesatch.

My MA54 holds 6 mags. The, erm, thingy. That covers the mags on top. Flaplike thing, whatever that's called (one cup of coffee). You can adjust that to fit 6.

I would imagine that if you are walking around wtih an AR then the last thing that will draw attention is whatever else you are wearing.

I am looking to purchase a tacical vest but I am not sure what one to get. I would like a place for my .45 and many 5.56 mag pouches. Where should I be looking?

Seriously. If your openly carrying your AR, does wearing a chest rig or vest really make you any more conspicuous?

I have a Tactical Tailor MAV with three 2-AR mag pouches, one AR mag shingle with two pistol mag pouches attached to it and a zippered GP pouch.

The answer is obvious, when you go to a USPSA three gun match, of course.

Get on that has a 100 ounce bladder or is compatible with wearing a Camelback.

It depends on what kind of body armor you'd want to put in it if any in my opinion and if you want it to be MOLLE/PALS compatible.  I would personally suggest checking out cheaperthandirt.com first because you'll get the most bang for your buck.  As far as holding your .45 I suggest a good HSGI drop leg platform.  And Jesus Christ guys!  He asked a simple f'ing question about a VEST and you could just answer his damn question without starting a debate.  Other than those suggestions, I'd look around maybe at blackhawk if you don't care about body armor going in it or the M.O.U.T. chest rig is nice and simple.  I suggest what ever you do, do not purchase a vest with a cross draw holster...if for no other reason, a lot of ranges will not allow you to use them because they can cause an unsafe sweep behind the line of fire.

My basic Rig; nothing overly fancy, just a standard issue FLC Vest with pockets galore; I carry 14 (yeah 14) M16 magazines, 2 M9 magazines (if I have to reach for my secondary after expending all my primary ammo (450 rounds), I'm in the wrong place), two frags, two pocket knives, an FS2000 strobe light, a lensatic compass, MREs and a poncho on the butt pack and chemlights on the PALS webbing of the vest.

Add an Interceptor vest with two SAPI Plates (Ceradyne/Armor Works)...

And my MICH Helmet and I am out to the boonies to play "tag the terrorist".

Oh yeah, everything is mine, purchased out of my own pocket; no "bring backs".

I have a few reg LBVs and a few LBV/Carriers, here one I like using, can get behind the wheel and drive without having to remove.

Hopefully hunt server is back up.

Also like to note, for newbies, go for MOLLE Gear.

Yes, that's what I use too but I still have vest too.  BTW, it can hold 6 AR mags with no problem.

It also looks like One Source is using one of the pic's I took when I did the review on the Rifle B.O.B...

I wore an AK-style chest rig and carried my M4 during the Hurricane Rita period.  You might actually get to use it.
