My father in law has one of these and loves it!

He's a HUGE geocaching fan and swears by it.  He has the car kit for it and uses it for everything.

Not to bad on price either.  You can find them for around 400 - 450 if memory serves.

I got a bare bones Garmin GPS 'hockey puck' that hooks up to the PC.  Even skipped USB in favor of serial.

I use it wherever I need to, even when I'm driving with the right software.

If you don't mind the bulk, you just can't beat a laptop loaded with all the software out there when it comes to features.

With software, the puck (Garmin GPS 18 PC) is $130.  A fair amount less without the software.

I guess that would help huh.. Sucks being sick as a dog during summer.

That one is the Garmin 60CSx.  It has expandable memory (very cool feature) found here Garmin 60CSx

Or you can get the 60CS (Found a few on geocaching.com for sale for $250)

The biggest difference in the two is the expandable memory so you can have more maps in the x model.  Some people have said they don't care for the icons on the x model as much as the regular CS model.

Not having either one I have no real idea.
