After looking at the sticky thread I have decided to upgrade my pack.

That being said, which would be a better value for the money:  Eagle AIII Molle or RAID?  Please post up if you have any experience with these.

I'm pretty sure that Carnac the Magnificent doesn't post here... you gotta post what you're looking for if you want or need advice.

alrightythen,

i've pretty much narrowed it down that it will be one or the other of the above mentioned packs.  is the tag worth the added money?

No, just get the AIII w/molle.  Its really a better pack.

Everybody just gets the RAID, covers up every availible space with pockets and trys to convince everybody that its cool and functional.

It has its place but for the money the AIII is better.

How about:

None of the above.

I had the AIII.  Sold it for a RAID.  And yes, it's covered in pouches.  Recently got a TAD F.A.S.T. Alpha Gen II.  Better than both the Eagle or the RAID pack.

TAD F.A.S.T Alpha Pack

Two problems:

1. Jump on it.  They sell fast and they only make so many of them.

2. Once you start buying TAD Gear....you can't stop.  It's worse than Kifaru.

AIII is general purpose/everday pack.

I have a CB Talon as well....got it from LA Police Gear when they were half off.  Makes a great pack that I can just toss in the back of the Jeep and leave loaded with some goodies.

Downside to the CB pack is that there is ZERO air-movement.  Your back will sweat like a MoFo.

I've got the Eagle.

Best, toughest pack I've ever owned.

that tag looks exactly like my 10yr old lowe alpine contour mountain 40.  but in od, mines black.  think i got it for like $40, employee discount.  wish i could get ahold of lowe alpines military packs.

i dont like molle for packs, except for attaching a crampon pocket, you want everything strapped in tight, or it will sway.

just noticed the tag has ice axe loops, but nothing up top to hold the handles.  rip off.
