I have Oakley M frames with a clear lens.  When I look at light in a dark are I see ghost images of the light offset from the light source.  For example if I am in a dark room looking out a cracked door to a bright area and I am 5 fet from the door I can see a secondary dimmer image of the cracked door to the side of the actual image.  I have not noticed this with my other Oakley glasses with different lenses (XX and Half Jacket) is this normal?

Dev,

I'll take a look at mine when I get home and I'll let you know....

FWIW, I think this is some sort of Parallax error/distortion. Because you are looking through a lens, there will be some shift of the image. I ain't no expert, but, I think this could explain it.

Is it a brand new lens? Or older (with wear, like maybe the coating wore off)?

I don't notice anything like that but I also wear eyeglasses with prisms - when I first got them I didn't realize I needed to get the lenses coated or else I'd be seeing all the lights double. VERY distracting for nighttime driving.

Brand new from Oakley, NIB I dont believe it has any coating from the facotry.  What is the M frame lens with the most light getting through that actually has a coating?  The clear lens is getting put away I think.

What you are looking at is a faint reflection of your own eyes, more liley cause by light bouncing off your eyes an then bouncing again from the lenses. I have a pair of M-frames too and I checked it out. , it is more pronounced if you have darker lenses, like polarized and "Iridium" lense coatings. My M Frames have dark grey (non Iridium) lenses and I have a set of Oakley Minute glasses with Ruby Iridium lenses.

Why do I not have this occur with my XX or half jackets if its light bouncing off my eyes?

Perhaps those glasses have an anti-reflection coating on them?

If I get a chance tonight I will pull out my clear-lens M frames tonight and see if I can replicate the condition.

It could be that I'm just used to that kind of thing due to my eyeglasses.

Hmm...Perhaps it's because the lens covers wider area on the M Frames? I'm not seeing any reflection from my Juliets.

Interesting, as shouldn't their XYZ technology prevent distortion?

Ruby lens? I'm jealous...hard to find those red ones for Juliets these days...
