I am on a really tight budget this summer and need a small one or two man tent that is very light and able to be carried in a large ALICE type hiking setup. No frills or anything but i need the usual shit like waterproof, floor etc etc. Is there anything along those lines available in the 30-100 buck range?

plenty of tents alvialble in that price range.

low end north faces
exponets
eurekas ect

campmor.com   check it out.

or go ultra cheap and pick up one off sportsman guide.  youll have to seam seal, treat  it,, but thats a  given for any new tent!

my 2 person pack set up is a coleman exponet INYO2.. its right over 4lbs and easily fits inside a med alice./ also under  100$ and better made than other brands i looked at in that  price range.
other than that i use my own self made shelters now days sinc ei do mostly ultra light backpacking.

you may also get more of  well rounded  response from teh guys in the arfcom survival forum.

I have a Coleman Exponent Aries that weights about 5/6lbs. Room for 2 and some gear. It's held up for 8-10 camping/hunting trips so far. I think I payed $60.

Alot of good tents to be had, when weight & being compact  is needed.
I use this one here, only down side, it is low profile, meaning not much room.

Just room enough for one man and gear.

Great for a bug out bob.

PS: Did I mention affordable? :D

Glad to be of help, which one did you end up going with?

I use many tents, even a hugh three room cabin tent.

But, keep my Bivy handy  for grab & go.

TG,
I went with a couple from IMSplus. Mainly for light usage, BOB and cache purposes.  I have a bivy bag that is nice and light yet keeps me dry. I needed something with a touch more room so my gear stays dry as well.

I hear yeah bout room for gear, I use this bivy tent in a Bob set up, light weight & doesnt take up much space.
I did  put the tent up a time or two, just to get the feel of it, in case I ever had to put up tent in a night situation.

This bivy has room for one man, possible backpack as well, you cant set up,due to this tent being low profile.

Gapper,
Several years ago I found a milspec'ish hammock.
It has hardware & instructions on how to use a
poncho for the roof. I have not had an occasion to
actually camp with, but I have set it up a few times
in the back yard. Seems comfortable, & no bugs or
other vermin crawling in. In cold or wet weather,
you can snap the egdes of the poncho under you &
your in a free floating cocoon. Pack size is about
like two 30 round mag pouches. I keep it in my
BOB...

Good Luck!

Nothing wrong with a GI pup tent, other than being too heavy and no  floor.

I have fond memories of the old GI pup tent, even at ft knox, camping in the snow.
