Guys,

Any advantage going with the nylon version of the 511 tatical pants?  They are $10.00 more and I'm wondering what I get for that?  Are they cooler in the summer?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

A little lighter weight.  I got a pair of nylon ones to match some midnight blue duty issued ones last summer.    It makes a difference if you plan to spend all day outdoors in the heat.  If you are in and out, or mostly in, the cotton ones will be more comfy because they have some stretch to them.

Thanks I have several summer details which last 12 hours and are all outdoors in 90+   So the nylon pants don't stretch at all?

Gary

You can get cotton or nylon at your local Army and Navy for alot less.......

MB,

I've checked and my local Army Navy does not carry the 511 product.  I like the 511 product because the back pocket fits the SL-20X perfectly.  In standard BDU's the light flops around and usually finds it's way to the deck.

Never tried them, but I have used the cotton/canvas in extreme (100 - 105) heat and they are fine.

I would venture to say that the nylons will probably be a tad tougher.  My 3 pair of canvas have holes at several of the pocket junctions.  They are soft edged and look like they are due to a combination of stress and washing.

I have both.  The nylon pants are cut smaller in every dimension, even though they are the same size as my cotton.

The material seems durable, although easily melted.  Wearing the nylon pants in the AZ heat was uncomfortable.  The canvas was much cooler
