I need some help here from someone with first hand knowledge. I am looking to get a used Kevlar helmet. What I need to know is how the sizing works. When it is small, medium, or large are they talking about the physical size of the helmet itself or just the suspension sysytem inside? Is a medium helmet dimensionally the same as a large (Kevlar portion)?
Thanks to anybody for your help.

All I can say is that I wear a 7 1/4 cover...

My K-Pot was a Med. the Large looked and felt like I had a Giant salad bowl on my head.

The Kevlar shells are different size, the suspension is a little different, the leather headbands and chin straps are adjustable....

Darn, now I want a Kevlar, and I dont even have a reason to wear one again, and I hated the damn thing when I had to wear it.

LOL!  My head measures 24 3/8" exactly - extra large.

My best buddy used to call me "horse head".  He was right.  No one else better call me that name, though.

Try to try one of first.  According to that chart, I'm (7 1/4) supposed to wear a large.  I di at first, but it was very clumsy.  So, after it got ran over with a PLS, I got a med.  Much better fit.

When you read the code inside the helmet, which number represents date of manufacture?

DLA100-87-F-LC98
5470-01-092-7528
UNICOR

Thanks!

The sizes are also followed by a number. Each sizes has sub-sizes, for example; M-1 = Medium 1. I think there are only two subsizes per size. Does any of this make sense.

I believe it is this one. Possibly the "87" denotes date of manufacture.

This one is the National Stock Number (NSN)
5470-01-092-7528

UNICOR = Manufacturer
