| I have been thinking of buying a modular leg panel for a radio pouch & upright GP puch. I have looked at all of the major brands and, since I have no experience with thigh rigs, I was wondering if any of you out here have advice suggestions? Is there a big difference in the size of the leg straps? What about the versions that have rubber on the iside to assist keeping the rig stable? ANy info would be appriciated! hinking.gif |

I recently bought a modular leg panel made by SOTech. I haven't had a chance to do anything more than walk around the house with it yet but so far I'm impressed. It is very well made, hugs the leg well without being uncomfortable, has two wide leg straps that hold it in place without cutting into your leg, and it has a conventinet pouch inside. I plan to set it up with a couple of pistol mag pouches and a first aid pouch but I may just put a spent magazine pouch on it and keep the pistol bags and first aid kit on the belt. |
| Hey.. Thanks for the info.. I was wondering if you know the model number or secific name? Also from what you can determine, do you think the "average radio pouch and a medium size GP pouch wil fit side by side on the rig? I figure the GP pouch will take atleast 4 of the rows of webbing and atleast 2 for the radio pouch? I know some are wider than others with more rows of attachment points. |

I have one from HSGI. I like the suspension, the same principle as used on their fantastic drop leg hoster. It has a provision for a knife and sheath to ride behind it. I use it on the first line. Currently it has an EssTac Medical / Small Ute for an E&E, an EssTac Mini Med Tall for meds, and a HSGI single mag pouch for a torch or multitool. I have the Cold Steel Recon Tanto riding in an Eagle AB sheath in the space provided behind the panel, on the drop strap. There is still room on the panel, but I am trying to keep it fairly low profile, and light. Sure beats the AITES panel I had before. edit to add Tactical Tailor makes a small one that is nice if you are looking for an very low profile. CTC makes another nice one that a knife can ride behind, but you have to provide the kydex insert as the sheath is integral. |
ETA that it doesn't come with the QR buckle to the belt, that is extra. |
| I'll second the SoTech drop leg panel. I have had mine for over a year and like it a lot. very comfortable and stays put even with vigorous activity. excellent construction and the inner hidden pouch is a nice extra you won't find on other drop legs. plus it's the perfect size without being to large. and you do have to order the quick disconnect hanger as an extra (which I highly recommend on all drop leg rigs so you can ditch it fast or swap out to other configurations with ease. |
| Hey.. ANy chance someone with a SOTEC modular leg panel could let me know what the measurment of the width is? As I said in my original post, I want to put a radio pouch and an Parcelete upright GP pouch side by side on the panel. If both will not fit on the panel then I need to think of another option. Also if someone has the link to the lightfighter forum, that would be great. Thanks.... |
www.blackhawkindustries.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=2135&d= This is the one I bought, it works like a champ. I ordered mine from gandrtactical and payed alot less than the $49 Blackhawk has listed. |
With any MOLLE/PALS gear you can simply count the rows and columns of webbing to get an estimate of the size. It is 1" webbing spaced 1" apart and the stitching for the columns is 1.5" apart. Measuring the SOTech panel the actual width is 7.25 because one of the end columns is a little narrower. Another thing to do is compare the rows and columns on the pouches to the rows and columns on the carrier. The paraclete upright GP looks like it is 3 columns wide so you should have 2 columns available for a radio pouch.

Sweet tits. Looks like they have all sorts of dirrefent models too, so I might be able to use one to carry spare pistol mags and a mini survival kit on the 1st line gear. Only downside is it ooks like I'll have to break out the OD spray paint. Dawg |
