Is anyone using any of their gear? It  looks very cool, but was wondering whether it cut the mustard.

It's some of the best built gear I have ever put my hands on.  I've got a few EssTac pouches, and the fit and finish on them blows away all of the other pouches I own (Paraclete, HSGI, TT, BHI, SDS).  Mine were all made by Stuart himself (the owner).  I think now he has a few more people working for him on these products, but no doubt they must all meet his standards.  SKD Tactical is now carrying Essential Tactical products, don't hesitate to go through them... they are definitely a top-notch distributor!

thank upi double_r76 - that is absolutley fantastic news.

Do you own on of their chest rigs or just the pouches???? I had been thinking about a HellCat, but I am now leaning towards the Bush Boar.

From the SKD Tactical website:

Dear Customers,

We are proud to introduce high-quality, US-made products from Essential Tactical. You will find that the tough construction and attention to detail make EssTac products among the finest tactical nylon products available anywhere. Due to the current high demand for EssTac products, we will likely be selling out of inventory items on a regular basis until EssTac`s production capacity grows to meet their enormous demand. Like anything else on our website, unless it is listed as "Out of Stock", you can be confident that at least one of the item is in stock. We have placed several large stocking orders with EssTac to begin to build a good inventory so we can ship products immediately upon receiving orders. Look for updates as we will have the rest of the pouches and Chest Rigs available in the coming weeks.

Thank you!

I'll be watching.

Stuart builds his stuff to last.  I mean built hell-bent for stout.

He double, or triples, the cordura on his pouches.  And uses HEAVY DUTY zippers and zipper pulls on everything.  Also his workmanship is great....no threads hanging out, bare edges, crooked seams or stitches....etc.

The Pack Rat pictured above is a great little pouch.  Holds a light, knife, and a tool, but stays real flat.  I love mine.

Only problem is he is starting to run delays, becaues the word is out, and people are making bigger and bigger orders.

In light of that I would highly recommend you check out SKD Tactical.  I know he is keeping more and more in stock.  And I highly recommend SKD anyway.....fast shipper, fair prices, and a real order tracking system that you can use!  I have only ordered from SKD once, but I had my order in my hands in two days.

I have been looking at different chest rigs for a while, and I have finally narrowed it down to Esstac's Poor Man's Boar...  It looks like the right rig for my intended application, their worksmanship looks tight and they have a great reputation.  Now I just need to save up for it and everything else I want but don't necessarily need...

i'm a walking, talking ad for stuart and EssTac, and most people know it.  i don't actually OWN any of his rigs, only a bunch of his pouches.  i do currently hold hostage a prototype split front bush boar.  it was one of the first, and even though there have been improvement upon it, this is still a damn good piece of gear.  i started ordering his shit back in july or so, i guess.  maybe before.  anyways, i started with a couple of double-mag pouches, and cascaded into the fiery pit of gear-queerdom.  i regard this stuff as the toughtest, most well-built and well-thought-out gear i've ever had my hands on.  i sold several SOE and TT things to have them replaced with EssTac gear.

yes, stuart is having delays.  it sucks, because just like all of you guys, i have to wait for my gear also.  one of the big things is that he's getting a lot of guys either already IN iraq, or going there very soon, who need the gear.  they get it first.  sorry, that's the way it is.  after that, it's first-come, first-serve.  he's also been having to make LOADS of gear to fill the demand from SKD.  since the advent of multicam, he's been busy making a fuckton of things in that also.

his operation went from basically him, with his wife helping sometimes, a couple of months ago, to him, his wife, and 4 other employees working full time, on TWO machines, to turn out all the gear you crazy bastards want.  at times, his communication is slow.  don't worry, it's just because his brain is slow, and he can't read.  and because he's often working 14-15 hours a day, cutting, sewing, ordering materials, or training the new employees.  so, be patient.  once this little bog-down clears, things will be rolling like a locomotive, and we'll all be happy, rolling in the mud, getting our gear nice and dirty.

yeah, crosstitching.  actually, stuart really only knits.  he has other people do the sewing.  you should see it, though.  he makes a mean tactical shawl.  my grandma loves hers.

he means packrat.  there's no suchly named gear as the ratpack.

by the way, if you guys ever have any questions about the gear, like how it works, or whatever, if you want a quick answer, you can try IM'ing or emailing me.  i'm on here a lot more often than stuart is, and i've basically become his unofficial spokeman.  i have a fuckton of pictures of the gear saved, so i'm able to provide some better pictures, and more up-to-date pictures than are on his website.  the guy that does his site is in iraq at the moment, hence the lack of an extensive site.  stuart is an idiot when it comes to updating it.
