I'm looking for a good pair of boots that I can wear daily and at the range/shooting course/idpa.  I mostly wear jeans and carhartt pants in the original orange color.  I know in a boot you can't go cheap if you want it to be comfortable.  I don't think black would go together very well with jeans/carhartts and really not a big fan of black boots.  Don't need steel toe or any of that either.  Maybe a light layer of goretex and thinsulate but not too much where I cannot wear them in the summer.

A fine pair of boots.

I've got a pair a Bellville 790's gore-tex lined.  They are so comfortable they are like weaing tennis shoes, but they can get a little warm in the heat.

They are better for wider feet, but you won't be dissapointed in them at all.  I think I paid around $135.00 for them and I'll be buying another pair here shortly.

2nd the Belleville boots.  Most comfortable thing I've had on my feet.

Here' a silly but true story.  I had been running a couple miles a day in a pair of nike cross trainers...I don't remeber the exact model.  When I would finish my knees would be sore.  I started running in my Belleville 770 and no more hurt knees.

The 770 are black with GOretex and 200 gram thinsulate.  The 790 are tan with GOretex only.  They have a pretty good website.www.bellevilleshoe.com/public/pubhome.htm

I gotta say...Redwings are the best boots I have ever owned.  They are comfortable and they hold up extremely well.  They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

If you are looking for a great deal, check these out:

I ordered a pair because of how inexpensive they were and  they are very nice for that price. They are usually 80 bucks a pair. I have always had good luck with Bates boots and these are no exception. I train and even run in them on a day to day basis and they have held up very well.

I love my Danners. For a non-black I'd try the Radical GTX  45.

I have Scars on my feet from redwing boots. They only take about a year to break in where they are comfortable, by that time, the soles are wasted.

Get a pair of wolverines or Doc Martens and don't look back

+1 on that....I have a pair in Buckskin and like them very much. Up until I got these, I always wore the black swat type (Bates/Magnum/HiTec) boots. Because these boots are "demilitarized," they look good with jeans as well as a pair Royal Robbins 5.11 Khaki's. Here is a pic:

I guess I'm too late, but in case anyone else is looking for a recommendation. I'd have recommended a pair or Russel Moccasin Company, double vamp "bird hunters."  Kind of spendy, but worth every penny.  I've got a pair that I got for my birthday as a sophomore in highschool.  With good care they are still solid as a rock twelve years later.  They were daily wear work boots during summers and winters, and hiking/hunting boots during the spring and fall.  Bar none, the most comfortable boots (or shoes) I've ever worn, right out of the box.  I'll be having them re-soled next year.
