What weapon/s will it be for? What will your main use for it be?Most of the vests can be adjusted with lacing or webbing from a small size to a size big enough to wear over body armor. Some brands do offer different sizes.

The vest I am looking for is to be used on the range, mainly to hold 10 rd. mags of .223/5.56
ammo and what not. I will add to it later when the need applies. Thanks

Probably the best web gear for your situation would be a Chinese SKS bandolier.

They usually run about $8 to $12 each. They have 10 pockets, each designed to hold 2 SKS 10 round stripper clips. The pockets fit a 20 round M-16 mag rather snug. They hold a 10 round mag, like say, for a Mini-14, with enough extra room to grab the mag freely.

The chest bandolier is worn with the straps crossed in the back. It doesn't get in the way of backpacks or other gear.

What I'd do is replace the button/loop closures with fastex buckles and maybe some velcro. I'd also replace the shoulder and back straps with 1.5" or 2" webbing and fastex buckles for quick release.

Look at this link to give you some ideas on how to modify Chinese canvas gear.

Go to Concealed Carry Clothiers.  I know the guy who founded the company. Walt takes CCW very seriously.  All they do is offer top notch clothes for concealed carry. Great vests, pants ..etc...
