Just picked up the DM version. The current plan is to file a Form 1 to SBS it; put a 10” MCS barrel and MCS forend on it and have my local gunsmith cut the “mag tube” down to the length of the barrel. Then add a high tube stock adapter. And maybe a Salvo https://i.imgur.com/DI6zlaJ.jpg View Quote I just rationalized cutting up a new laminate stock and forend because I dislike the plastic and now I see a detachable magazine is available...I'n so screwed. |

I've been reading that the magazines are not as robust as Mossbergs

Detachable mag version also will negate the need for the Tacticool side saddle upgrade.

The Magpul handstop did not work out at all for me. It changed the grip angles on the forend and the stops, regardless of which way you put them, pulled your hand away from the forend while firing.

if you are looking for a strap to help control recoil, a comment on my Mossberg addition...after watching the Youtube video of the installation of a commercial strap kit, I built a prototype similar using 550 cord around the grip, running it through the sling stud (you would have to add one to the 870) then tying it to a piece of adjustable 1" nylon strap... looking for a better solution, used a split key ring to anchor the strap to the sling stud, finally just using a quick detachable swivel to the stud (turned it slightly to align the angle) really helps to control the recoil...don't know the longevity, so far only a box of skeet loads

Quoted: I never heard of suarez until seeing someone post a link to his site here on Arfcom. I made the mistake of clicking the link and sending him $300. There should be a site rule that disallows hot-linking of shithead vendors. Would have saved me a lot of aggravation. I like what AIP has to offer, but still didnt see a 12.5" option. Judging by AIP's pricing... sure looks like Suarez fucked me pretty good. Edit to add: Dug the barrel out of storage for pics since im still pissed. Upon closer examination... I find the front sight is also deformed from beating with a hammer. $300 fucking dollars for this mess... and almost 2 months of waiting. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/7187/20180512_110532_resized-541734.JPGhttps://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/7187/20180512_110625_resized-541735.JPGhttps://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/7187/20180512_110638_resized-541736.JPGhttps://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/7187/20180512_110657_resized-541737.JPG View Quote |

So, I've tried 3 foreends:

This is the brace system I really want but it makes me nervous. The ATF letter provided by Suarez only mentions an opinion on shouldering the brace. There is no mention that this folding brace has been deemed satisfactory to the ATF. Can someone prove me wrong? I really want to order this! I've found this online, could I swap the stock for a brace and call it a day? Would still need a grip of course. My apologies, still very green here. I meant to quote an earlier comment. They posted a picture of the Suarez folding brace. Really want that brace system but would like to hear others opinions on it.
The picture i included was a stock indeed. I was thinking of buying it, removing the "stock" part and installing a brace in its place. Thanks! |

@LegalLlama
Scroll up and check out fmj_shooter’s setup. The folding adapter you are looking at is a Choate Mfg part available from them direct. It takes any AK type grip (like the Magpul MOE AK) if you don’t like what it comes with and an AR tube and brace of your choosing. Folding mechanism. @fmj_shooter Quoted:

Does anyone have any proof that the folding brace is legal? Suarez claims it is, but other manufacturers have had guns recalled/seized for measuring with the folding brace extended instead of closed. Posted the article of concern below.

Your link to TFB is nothing more than an isolated incident off a manufacturer circumventing state law and getting mixed up with the ATF. TFB sells shock value and clickbait. All you've done in this thread page is questions the legality of perfectly legal builds on this thread. LOL... I call it “The Punisher”... The comb is a 1/4” too high so, you have to aim using the top of the sight instead of the center dot. https://i.imgur.com/YQoQlTx.jpg KAK Shockwave tube with Blade brace Mesa Tactical adapter w/ Magpul grip XS Big Dot night sight +1 mag extension View Quote |
