There is thin metal lip around the edge of the tube where the shells load in. At first I thought the tube was threaded in too far So I backed the tube out a little bit, but this lip is still there. The lip catches the rim of the shell and requires nudging around to get the shell into the tube.

Call Mossberg.  If it was my gun I'd scratch a line on the tube flush with the receiver and file off the excess.  Then smooth everything out and add a slight taper.

Edit - After a little more thinking.  Turn the tube into the receiver until it's flush.  See if the gun functions properly.  If so, then thread locker is your friend.

I ended up backing it all the way out when I first messed with it. The lip is still there even when the tube is all the way out. Almost seems like it's there to keep the tube from being threaded too far in. I'd hate to send it back to Mossberg since it took 5 weeks to get it and I haven't even had it for a week yet. It functions just fine but causes some fumble fucking when I load shells in it sometimes.

That looks like a burr.

Maybe with the tube in all the way it won't catch (as stated above).

Maybe it needs to get honed off, just a little QC miss or the mill was getting tired (dull tools, etc).

Without seeing it in hand, can't really tell.

I'd try and fix it myself if it was just the tube not being fully seated or a burr, but if you're not like me, send her back. I don't see why mossberg wouldn't make it right.

Certainly some kind of burr. I don't have a hundred rounds through but you can see where the brass has worn the finish off of the offending edge. Another QC issue I have is the forearm has lots of flash edges from when it was molded. Enought that I was trimming the sharp edges off last night with a pocket knife.

That looks like the hole was threaded too far and bulged the metal out. It should be smooth there. If I bought it new I would contact Mossberg. If not I'd have to decide whether to file it off or peen it down. arfcomAttached File

Shockwave?  Mine does that too. The more I use it, it seems to wear off.  It catches the shells and even scratched the plastic.  I am not impressed with the finish on the mag tubes. They are blued and it has worn off after only a few pumps.

Other than those two things, i love it.

That was a good guess! I guess I'll just shoot it til the burr goes away on it's own then!

You might scrape off a little of  the sharp edge, but do not file/sand too much in that area. A portion of the thick receiver area (that keeps the mag tube from  screwing in too far) also holds the shell follower inside the mag tube. Take off too much receiver metal and the follower will pop into the inside of the receiver when you run run all the shells out of the magazine.

It hasn't caused reliability issues so I'll let it ride for now.
