Went shooting trap singles today with a couple friends. We have a real trap range that does a lot of big competitions. I have shoot here maybe 5 times over a few years. We did 4 rounds of 25 and I scored 89/100. Everyone thought that was really good and I should compete. I normally do the AR and handgun thing not shotguns. Are these scores any good? I shoot shotgun maybe once or twice a year.
All shooting was done on the 16 yard line and no handycap.
I used a Remington 870 with a 26" barrel and no choke.

89/100 is a really good for the occasional shooter (and some regular shooters too!).

If you get serious about Trap then getting from the low 90's to 98-100 is where the real challenge and frustration begins.

Those are great scores and if you like the game you should continue shooting it.

And when you really feel like having a good time, shoot some sporting clays.

Well done.

Rifle shooting translates well into trap.

Google Rudy Etchen.

He used a 870.

He had good success with it.
