Hey all,
I have a scope that fits correctly on my AR.  I just purchased a cantilever barrel for an 870 express.  The scope does not quite fit on the rail on the 870 barrel.  To make it fit, I'll have to adjust the scope rings.    Is it normal for various rail systems to have different distances between the scope rings like that?

Hope the question makes sense.

Thx

What you are running into is not uncommon with various scope bases. Scope bases often have different ring / slot spacing.

A Picatinny rail (MIL-STD-1913 rail) will have standardized, consistent slot spacing. A Picatinny rail  is also a scope base but not all scope bases are Picatinny rails.

Thanks GunCat...that's what I thought.  The scope I have is an older CenterPoint.  I bought it used and don't have a manual.  Are there any generic recommendations on how tight to torque the ring when I move it?
