Not sure of exact number, but 175 give or take a few.  Shoot numbers are down from 3 or 4 years ago.  This shoot used to run 250 or so.  1000 targets over 3 days.  I don't shoot trap, but this shoot takes a lot of volunteer labor to function well, so I try to do my part.

I think your low on your target count.

If they shot 100 each that would be 17,500.

If 175 guys shot 100 targets that would be less than 6 targets per person.

this.  175 shooters, 1000 targets per shooter if you shoot the whole show (9 events)  300 birds Friday, 400 birds Saturday (The doubles event is 100 pair on Saturday), 300 birds Sunday.   175,000 targets thrown.   It will be a few days before we get the final tally.

We used to see over 50 squads in any given event, especially on Saturday and Sunday.  Down to under 40 now.  It's still a big production - 18 traps (16 for competition, 2 for practice and backup)  40-50 teenagers loading machines and scoring, line refs (my job), kid wranglers, squad hustlers, repair maintenance and target setting crew, garbage crew, target stocking, cooks, trophies, squadding and registration desk, cashiering,  etc.

That makes more sense.

I run two four gun skeet shoots. One is one of the top 100 NSSA shoots so I know the drill.

In skeet it's doubles on Friday. 12 and 20 on Saturday and 28 and 410 on Sunday.

Plus a dinner on Saturday night.

Lots of work but very rewarding.

Good job!!!

I am the computer guy for our skeet shoots.  I run Valerio from my macbook in a virtual machine running windows 10.   We had a shoot that was a top 100 for a while, but with the increase in gas prices and the lack of components it's attendance has dropped off as well.  I've pretty much quit shooting in the shoots - I find it difficult to focus on shooting while trying to keep all the data entry up dated, shoot offs calculated, etc.

We have 5 skeet fields, we have run shoots with 75 shooters in the past running 3 flights.  There aren't 75 active registered skeet shooters in the northwest now though.

The skeet side of our trap and skeet club has figured out it makes the sometimes tense relations between trap and skeet much much better if we pitch in and help with the bigger shoots and do as much as we can around the facility.  We have a very good relationship between disciplines now.

I'm the outside guy, refs, loading machines, mechanic, my wife hosts the dinners and I shoot.

This year we are paying people to run the computer, squading ect..

My partner used to do it but has had a difficult year.

We have four skeet fields so we max at 60 with three rotations. Our fifth field was closed because of proximity to the lake. We need one of those screens.

Our first shoot is two rotations because we do lobsters and have to finish early to cook but this year we are going to have four 3 man squads during what would be the lunch break so we can go to 52 shooters.

Lobster is so popular that each shooter brings three people for dinner. So 40 equaled 120 lobsters and 52 will be about 150 lobsters and steaks. Plus corn and potatoes. Big production.

Our trap and skeet do fine. It's our sporting clays guys that cause problems. But it's getting better.

Sounds awesome.

We used to do a roast pig for our big skeet shoot but with the decline in participation it just doesn't pencil out.  Now we pick up a couple tenderloin roasts, steak them, and set up a big bbq and let people grill their own.   We did 3  4 - gun shoots for many years, but we eliminated our March shoot this year.  We usually do a free taco-bar on Friday nite, and the big dinner on Saturday after shoot offs.

We have a "Monday Gang' of older retired guys that come out Monday mornings and load the houses, clean out the boxes, and shoot for reduced fees in return. We can usually get enough targets into the skeet houses to make it through a weekend shoot.  If there is a shoot coming up we tell the Monday gang how many boxes we want in the skeet houses.  Sometimes they even do what we tell them. The trap houses won't make a weekend.  So one of the volunteer deals is to load houses Friday nite and Saturday nite.  It goes fast because the club buys beer for the volunteer crew.  We get lots of help on garbage duty and loading the houses.

We did 2 roast pigs for last weekends trap shoot.

The BOD put a skeet shooter in charge of our 5 stand.  He has been able to get some help from them.  It's a standing joke though.  We'll all be working on something and the 5-stand guys will be leaning on the fence waiting for us to open the 5-stand for them.

We used to have a program where guys could circumvent the wait list, about 8-10 years, by paying several thousand dollars for three years then jumping the list.

Most of these guys were sporting shooters so they feel that they paid there way into the club so they should not have to work. Can't blame them I guess.

The program has been modified so things are getting better.

We got a new president a few years ago who led by example and volunteerism has increased.

Our shoots are open to the public so we have no trouble filling them.
