I am thinking about buying a Fury with the sporter stock and without the magwell. I have seen they can take saiga mags with little modification. Are they any harder to convert than a saiga?
Has anyone had enough trigger time to speak of any reliability issues? Is there anything else I should be aware of with these shotguns? |
| Someone i know as a trusted gunsmith and he is well respected for his work on the ak platform shotguns broke a cat within 75 rds doing a review/eval of that gun. Also your not suppose to shoot steel shot from a car cause the barrel metal is too soft. In short... id save up for a vepr12. |

Supposedly there's another option out there now, the ddi 12, which is also Chinese,
The difference has a ar style saftey me left sided charging handle Supposedly it takes Saiga after market parts and mags, I've seen it going for 599, which is about the same ballpark |

I have a Fury II, bought it from J&G when they had them for around $300. I haven't shot it as much as I would like, mostly because like a lot of AK shotguns it doesn't like walmart cheap stuff. It seems to be rock solid reliable with buckshot and slugs, though. Saiga mags work fine with a bit of modification, but will not activate the last round hold open feature. I am going to put in a Carolina Shooter's Supply reliability kit and see if I can get it reliable with 100 round value packs. It has one of the smoothest triggers I've ever felt. It feels like the bastard love child of an AK and a 1911.
Not sure why being able to shoot steel shot is a big deal, I don't plan on migratory bird hunting with a Fury. The stock on the Fury 2 sucks, that is one part that will get changed out when I have the time, but that is a fair amount of work. I think the Fury line is a good deal if you get one cheap like I did, otherwise the upgrades many will want to do get it into Saiga or Vepr territory. |

I think the Fury line is a good deal if you get one cheap like I did, otherwise the upgrades many will want to do get it into Saiga or Vepr territory. The conversion is fairly simple. You can find YouTube videos by CAROLINA SHOOTERS SUPPLY that demonstrate. The hard work is a half-day relocating the FCG and providing for installation of their FCG/PG setup. See my pic above. Upgrades plus cost of the conversion are still less than a bone stock VEPR or Saiga most days, and the stock on them sux IMO. The conversion gives you a nice straight recoil path near the barrel center-line. The Saiga is an AK, and the VEPR is an RPK, so there is value in that: great shotguns. But I don't need the name, and the cost savings is substantial. I too don't do steel shot. The Fury shoots buckshot and slugs just fine, and is reasonably accurate pre-conversion. The addition of the Chaos sights should help point it more consistently, as the foresight on the gas block is HUGE! |
