I am wanting to get a semi auto shotgun and the benelli M2 seems like a great one. the model im looking at is the tactical with pistol grip and ghost ring sights. I have been reading up on them and it seems that inertia driven shotguns like this are sensitive to weight. I want to add the new surefire LED forend. a +1 mag extension and Velcro a shotgun card to the side of the receiver.

this shotgun is going to be set up for home defense/ zombiepocalypse. I need it to be reliable with 00buck and slugs. does anyone have a setup similar to the one i described?

I had one  and read that adding weight like extensions and lignts could induce feeding problems. I added a nordic extension  and it ran ok. Im not much on cleaning guns and the next time out it did start jamming.
I thought it kicked like a bitch particularly with slugs and 00 buck, iirc. Got rid of it

The whole “don't add weight to an inertia gun” is way over blown. Competition shooters routinely add long mag tubes and other things weighing more (than what you have planned) to the gun and they run reliably when fed the correct ammo. Here is a M2 with a more than a box of shells and other stuff added to it.

Recoil? The gun is light (relative to a 870, 1100, VersaMax. FN SLP) so yeah... all things being equal the felt recoil will be more.

Same. I thought the action would take up some of the kick. Maybe on some other semi's...

I have had two M2 shotguns I had one as you described and another setup more 3 gun like.  Both were always 100% unless I used super light ammo, even then it was 90% which surprised me.

The recoil was always much less than my 870s with the same ammo.  Now the M4 is a lot less than the M2 as well.. but they are all shotguns so none of them kick like a feather.
