I have an 870 I am SBS'ing and I'd like to get info on possible shops or options for the work..
I am curious if there are any companies that install pic rails on the top of the 870 receivers? Most of the saddle-type solutions don't really appeal to me and I'd like a more permanent solution to adding a rail. Ideally I'd be able to run with either an H1 or a Trijicon optic. |

Thanks for the option but that is not at all what I want. I am looking for a pic rail on the receiver alone and more or less am curious of a custom shop that can do the service (probably weld it on).
Some of the products out there are interesting but this is a standard 870 Express so likely spot welding a pic rail is the only solid and durable solution. |

I'm pretty sure any good smith can drill and tap your 870 for a rail. |

Another option is Grizzly Custom Guns. I don't know if they are still doing 870 work or not but you can find multiple pictures around the web of different options he was offering for rails on 870s. 10-4, I'll look into them...still haven't received a reply from Vangcomp. |

I've seen plenty of drilled and tapped rails, but never one that was welded. The ones I've seen have held well if done property.
Even a weld could work free over time, just like the seal on silver solder, especially since you're welding onto the main area where the action is working. |
