Just picked up a KSG. So far I love it. Just a question.

While pumping the forend, the picatinny rail slams into the bolt release pushing it down a quarter inch or more. I am assuming this is normal.

I was thinking about filing off the first notch of the rail to keep it from doing that. Opinions? Should I do it or leave it alone?

For it to function correctly you can't really ease it back. I'm afraid of what two pieces of plastic slamming together will do over time.

how do you like that magpul afg2 on there?  right now i just have vfg, but was thinking either the afg2 or larue handstops would be a better alternative.

Honestly like it a lot.  Feels like it was made for it. I have tried AFGs before on rifles and didn't care for them.  But really like it on the KSG.

On rifles I prefer Larue handstops.

I dremeled a round end on the end of the rail that comes in contact with the slide release it smoothes it out with no sticking.I use a stubby grip on the pump and a hitech steel comp/breacher helps tame that god awful kick.

I've always wanted to do something about that too but I don't shoot it enough to make it a problem. For all you guys, does the last 1/4" in the pump stroke come up hard and take a bit of force to move it fully back?

yep sure does sticks a bit on the return im sure it will wear smoother but i experimented dremeled out last part of the rail 1/2 inch in now it doesnt hit or stick way smoother pump operation.

KSG isn't a shotgun. It's a Bullpup.

Picked this one up yesterday.  Both are gen 2. But I noticed the pump on this one is made completely different. The other handguard was notched, this one isn't. They both hit the pump release though.

Is this something that may contribute to short stroking during the firing cycle?  Particularly, is the impact hard enough for the user to believe he or she is at the end of the forearm travel?

That is exactly what I am wondering. It feels like it to me.
