I bought a Stevens 520 (double Hump) and found it had some issues. I bought it as is so I was kind of expecting them. The first was the lifter spring was missing. I got that sorted out. The second issue I have is the slide lock does not always engage. I think I have an early variant. I know some have an inertial lock, I don't think mine is. Here are some photos of the trigger assembly and two slide lock springs I have found online. I can't find any information to show If I have an inertia lock or if it needs one of these springs or another spring. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I figured it out. There is a forked leaf type spring under the trigger spring. I do have a very early model that has an inertia bar the unlocks the slide. I got this about 5 months ago and finally ironed out all of my issues. Now whether to refinish it or not:

Hell no to the refinish that thing looks great.

I am off work today and have done some research since the last post. It is marked J.Stevens Arms and Tool Co. Which makes it 1915 or earlier but later than 1907. I haven't had any luck running down the SN, 603xx. No proofs but I didn't expect any as the double humps weren't used by the military. Both halves have a matching serial number. I am going to leave it as is.
