I have a nephew that is getting into Trap. He really enjoys it but he very light weight for a 13 year old. He currently is shooting a 20 gauge pump and his coaches would like to see him step up to a 12 gauge. So his dad asked me if I knew of any affordable semi-auto 12 gauges. I told him to look around for a used gun but everything he is finding is a adult gun and way to big. So I started to do some searching online and found Tristar. They offer a youth 12 gauge.  I know they are Turkish but I haven't seen anything horrible about these guns. Infact i have seen alot of good reviews. A older thread about the tac version and it seemed alot alot of guys liked the gun. Anyone still around that posted here?

Anyone have one of the Tristar Semi and have run them for more then a  box or two? I would like to be able to recommend the gun to him but I dont want to stear them into something bad either.

I owned a CZ, have been around a lot of the other Turkish semi autos. In my opinion, they are all junk.

A used 1100 with a Youth stock is about the only budget option I would even consider. The last thing a beginning wingshooter needs is a junky ass shotgun.

Tristar is local to me.   The semi auto shotguns that they import are very rough, have a horrible trigger pull, and are not dependable.

If he likes pumps, there are still a lot of Model 12 trap guns out there for the same price as a low quality semi auto.

I would look at a used 1100, or 870 trap

Not a big fan of turkish guns although I have a Mossberg sliver reserve that has been flawless, but from what i have read I am the exception.
