Can someone explain what the point is of these things.  I recently cleaned out an estate and found about 150-200 rounds of various types similar to the pic

They're all aguila mfg.  From what I could find on them they don't really cycle that well in pump guns and semi auto appear to be out of the question.

From what I have heard they cycle in some pump guns which dramatically increases the capacity. Also I think they have lower recoil. You could carry more of those pound for pound then regular shells.

I have looked into them. I wish they would work in a remington 870 thou...

We used them to teach kids how to shoot trap.  We were using single shot break-open guns.  The lower recoil is just right for them.  They won't cycle in most repeating shotguns.  Low recoil is what they were made for.

If you have them and want to sell them IM or PM me.

For fun and to make people ask questions.

Almost no recoil, work great for shooting rats around the hog feeder or pigeons around the barn.

They're awesome in my 9" O/U 12 ga. AOW.

I also found a double barrel shotgun ...... from 1915.   I could knock a few inches off the barrels and have some fun

I'm kidding.

There was also that mag fed shotty from South Africa that used those mini shells.

My 870 will feed them only if the gun is held level and steady.  It would be great if they worked perfectly as you can have 10+ rounds in your gun.  I wonder what the length cut off is for reliable feeding in an 870, maybe just a hair longer, these would work and you get 2+ more rounds in the gun. Hmmm

They work great in my Winchester Defender. I would buy them if the price was right. Hit me up with a PM if you're interested in selling.

They cycle perfectly in a Winchester 1300. I bought a bunch. They are good for training new shotgun shooters. I consider them a novelty. I'd never use them for self defense.

What would be a good place to get some of these?

Midway USA

A lot of the online ammo sellers have them. Aguila is a good quality ammo maker. Even though they're in fuckin' Mexico.

Wow, is that Midway price the norm?  By the time you get done with shipping those will be over $1.00/round!

Just depends on where you find them IN STOCK at. I've seen them range from $10-25 a box. It also depends on what round you get.

ETA: The price of the dual load from Midway is a couple dollars higher than I've normally seen though, but the #7 1/2 shot is around normal price maybe plus a dollar.

DFW  I'm still inventorying all of it but I'm going to unload these along with some 30-06 and .38.   The .22 I'm keeping.

Damn, wish I was as lucky as you. But yea let me know which rounds you have cause I want some of them.

ETA: And you're an ass for keeping all the .22 cause that's a nice amount.

There were a couple of shotguns made expressly for these shells years ago that I know of, one pump and one semi, neither would work with std. shells and, not surprisingly, neither caught on/lasted long.  I doubt many were made.

Some 870s and 590s feed them okay, very hit or miss.

An 870 can be modified to feed them more reliably, but it makes them less reliable with longer loads.  Not worth it iMHO.

Win 1300s are the most likely of the "big three" to feed them reliably out of the box, but I had one that didn't.

They are great for light snake/pest loads in singles and doubles, though.  I always keep some around.
